Even after a curse like this, the City somehow manages to go back to normal. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, at this point. Still, it's... impressive.
For all intensive purposes, that curse managed to do what the PASIV does without compounds or the device itself. That's what I've been able to figure out in the past week, at least.
But none of it was real. That much I know for sure.
We didn't have control over the situation, no. But I could manipulate the dream and Eames could forge. That counts for something.
Cobb's the resident expert on limbo. Honestly, I don't know how deep one can go once they've hit limbo. It could be, well, infinite. [ He doesn't want to think about that, though. ]
I've been meaning to ask you, actually, and now would be as good a time as ever. Can you tell me everything that happened when you went into limbo with Cobb?
From what he's told me, Cobb built his own world. Here, in that dream, what control did we have? I know I keep repeating it, and maybe the curse was different for the both of you, but I had no control of that dream, whatsoever.
We found Fischer in what was left of Cobb's city. Cobb stayed behind to look for Saito; I took Fischer with me and rode the first kick out.
Were you aware that you were dreaming at the time?
Wait a second, Ariadne. Slow down. You had to go another level down because the projection of Mal killed Fischer on the third level, I know that much. What I want to know is, what was it like? Did it have a different feel to it than the higher levels? Tell me any details you can remember from then.
It was- [ A pause for thought. ] As I said before, it was empty. No projections, just the ruins of what was left from Cobb's dream. And it's not as reactive as the other levels? At least not like the others. Since it's open game to any of the dreamers, I guess limbo's not as quick to react to a single mind. Requires more conscious creation.
I could still feel and see the kick from down there. It manifested itself as a thunderstorm.
[ A pause-]
You're all right?

If this is limbo, what could that be? Another level?

Did you try and manipulate the environment while you were there?
