It's been forever since I updated, so.

thejennabides is bunking here for a bit. I'm glad to have her here - we indulge in episodes of Revenge and eat fatty snacks, and it's nice to have another person who can manage to put her dirty dishes in the kitchen sink like a responsible human being instead of leaving them strewn about the goddamned couch like a barnyard animal woman in the house. Starbuck is quite spoiled now, having someone around most of the day, and will sit outside her door and cry pathetically after I've gone for the day. Also, she attempted to introduce one of her hamsters to Starbuck, and this happened:
Hamster: (being held quite securely) *nosetwitch*
Starbuck: *backs up*
Hamster: *nosetwitch* *nosetwitch*
Starbuck: *backs waaaaaay up*
Hamster: *squeak*
Starbuck: *runs like her ass is on fire*
My big, brave guard dog, right there.
- The boy insists on being a teenager (see: dirty dishes, couch, barnyard animal - above). After a round of him doing his level bet to piss me off today, I asked him why he was trying so hard to piss me off, and he looked me dead in the eye and in an honestly uncertain voice said, "I don't know!". Nothing to be done for it but to wait it out, it seems. He and the beau were both slapped around by some sort of stomach virus last week. The boy and I stayed home Friday because sending a kid to school less than 12 hours after the last time they barfed like a frat boy on pledge week goes against my parenting principles, even when he is doing his level best to piss me off at any given opportunity. Boundaries testing, whoopie.
- Also in boy news, he had his first job over the last few months: refereeing Saturday games in the local rec soccer league. Same league he plays in, but refereeing for the younger age brackets. I felt kind of guilty for a few days that he was out working at his age, but he really enjoyed it and he was almost acting like a responsible, mature human for a while there. So I think it was good for him.
- I dip-dyed my hair with green and blue Kool-Aid for Halloween, and there is still some there. It hasn't completely faded out yet. I'm kind of surprised because my hair seems to burn through conventional hair dye pretty quickly. I'm also surprised that having turquoise chunks of hair hasn't gotten me in trouble at work. Hell, the office manager told me she thought it was pretty. So now I'm thinking about doing it again. >.>;;
Other than that, there's not much to report. Life moves pretty quickly.
