Just one of those things I remembered while out running.
------------------------
It was midnight, maybe nearing one in the morning, and I felt surprisingly awake. The house was quiet, more so than usual, and not a light was on in our neighborhood. Softly, in the distance, I could hear the crash of thunder and lightening. In my MSJ band shirt and easy sweat pants, I padded to my brother's room. He was asleep, bundled up tightly in his blankets, the window still open.
"Brother," I called to him in Chinese, curling up into a ball on his bed as I waited for him to wake.
He pried his eyes open to blink sleepily at me. "Hmm? What is it?"
"Come watch the lightening."
Like thieves, we stole out of the house and sat upon the doorstep. The sky was a murky grey, and not a drop of water fell. Yet there it was, the flash of electricity far across the sky followed by a lazy rumble.
Together we watched the lightening slash it's brilliant streak till the lights in our house and on the streets flickered back on.
