Cape Breton ...

is one of the most beautiful landscapes of the world, even filtered through my amateur snapshot eye (link is to my Flickr set).

Even on a dull day with rain threatening, it is still breath-taking (and insert every travelogue cliché you know here).

Being there feeds my soul.

I was up last weekend -- a quick visit, but nonetheless marvellous as always..

My grandmother was from Reserve Mines, a small coal town outside the main city of Sydney. She always went 'home' every year, staying with her sisters at the Keltic Lodge in Ingonish every fall when the leaves turned. She passed on her love of the land to me.
