Summary: A concern becomes a worry and Don enlists Colby's help to deal with the problem.
"Megan-" Don stopped when Colby appeared behind the other two agents, his gaze flicking between the folder in Colby's hand and the grim look on the younger agent's face.
Colby nodded, answering Don's unasked question.
Don refocused on Megan. "-go with David and talk to the Andersons about where they were on Saturday night."
David headed out as Megan nodded. "You got it, boss."
When they were gone, Don waved a finger at the folder.
"That's it?"
"Yeah."
Don nodded, glanced around, then jerked his head toward the War Room.
Colby nodded and led the way. Don shut the door behind himself, hand already out to accept the file.
Colby hesitated, then handed Don the folder.
"Your dad was right," he explained as Don skimmed the contents. "It's not just coincidences or paranoia on his part."
Don sighed and rubbed his eyes. "And Charlie?"
Colby shrugged and leaned back against a table, fingers curling around the edges. "Nah, you know Charlie. Always wants to believe the best of everyone. He has no clue."
Don snapped the folder shut, thinking.
"How do you want to handle this?"
Don looked up, then turned opening the door.
"I think this time we'll let Charlie keep his optimism."
Colby frowned and straightened, following Don out into their team area. "But, Don, this isn't just going to go away. And ignoring it will only make the problem worse. The one thing a stalker can't handle is being ignored."
Don's eyebrows arched as he fixed the collar on his jacket.
"I never said we were going to ignore it. Grab your jacket. It's still raining out there, it looks like."
Colby's eyebrows rose, but he just did as directed and grabbed the coat, following his boss to the elevator.
"I said we're going to let Charlie keep his optimism this time. He has no idea anything's going on, and I don't intend to tell him."
"Ah," Colby said as understanding settled in while they waited for the elevator. "Okay," he said, slipping on his coat. "I can get behind that."
Don looked at him sidelong and smiled.
"You just wanna scare someone."
Colby shrugged, a slight grin on his face. "In this case? Yeah. Maybe."
Don chuckled and got on the elevator.
"As your supervisor, I should discourage this kind of behavior."
"But you're not going to," Colby said.
Don arched an eyebrow. "Why do you think I sent Megan with David?"
Colby huffed a laugh. "Yeah, I figured."
There was a moment of silence as the doors shut, cutting them off from their fellow agents.
"Just don't leave any evidence, all right?"
Colby nodded. "You got it, boss."
