Snow is evil, part 2
Perhaps this entry may be better titled "I hate winter", but I'm not sure. The 6-8" of frozen white stuff never materialized this weekend. Instead we got a nice glaze of freezing rain plus howling winds out of the east (winds from this direction are very unusual.) This resulted in hundreds of downed trees and power lines and over 60,000 people without power. Like us. For about 36 hours. Yeah, it was cold.
The power came back on about noon on Monday and we started the process of heating the house back up and accessing the damage. Pretty much everything in the refrigerator is a loss. I had managed to salvage some frozen meat from the freezer (stuck it in a cooler outside.) And it looks like my PC is now toast, although we're not sure if that's related. So I will be off-line for the most part until sometime next year. :(
Other than that, we didn't have any pipes freeze and the kitty is OK, so I guess we did alright.
