When I was a little girl, I had salmanders as pets.  I had two of them, but right now I can't recall what I named them.  But anyways, I kept them in this small plastic cage and played with them all the times.  They were such great pets.  I loved to put them on my hand and feel the sensation of them tickling my hand as they moved up my arm.  They also could change colors when they wanted to be hidden.

One day I left with my mom to the store.  I gently put them on the stove which wasn't on and said bye to them.   I came home expecting them to wait to get out and play with me.  I ran to the stove and picked the cage up.  On the bottom there was pitch black circle.  I looked at my mom and said "Mommy?"  She turned around and said, "OH!!!"  Tried to cover my eyes, but it was too late.  I saw 2 salmanders laying on their back all fried.

They were all black and they were frozen.  I started to cry and my mom yelled for my father to come upstairs.  She asked if he cooked on the stove and he said he had.  She yelled at him and said, "WELL YOU'VE KILLED ASHLEY'S SALMANDERS!!"  He blinked and said, "Oh well, shit happens."  He walked back downstairs to work on something.

My dad, the idiot, never even turned off the stove top either.  It was still on when we came home.

And after thinking about that, I think it's kinda funny.  But it really upsets me to think of what they went through while they were cooking. :(
