The mentality that a replaceable object is "too good" to expirement on. Or even use. I was discussing this concept with a friend earlier tonight actually.
Coincidentally enough within moments of buying this watercolor set for $8 on a gift card.
I say go for the gold! It's just paper, and whatever you make, "pretty" or not is still your own, and personally, I would LOVE a watercolor painting from you! I would put it on my wall.
That mentality has a very strong hold on me. It's not just paper! It's so fresh and clean and has been waiting its whole life to be painted on. It only gets one chance, you can't just ruin that for him. You determine his fate with one stroke. That just seems like a lot of pressure.
The slightly longer answer is that I am doing a bunch and will pick my favorite to be the album cover for my forth coming creative endeavor Starflower Ranger - Solf Titled. Then I'll leak the rest slowly along with some other things that are also a part of my New Years resolution!

Or maybe not.
I am learning how to water color though.
And by "learning" I mean "doing with reckless disregard to skill or technique."
