We're all in agreement that The Holy Bible is probably the best thing to happen to art ever. OK? Good.
Someone told me the other day that She is Suffering is their best song. At first I dismissed them as just another crack-addict but the more I think about the more I realise he was onto something.
The way he sings 4 simple lines, particularly the way he phrases She is suffering. No apostrophe in sight. Like an arpeggiated chord emphasizes the last note. Like a weighted clause.
She is suffering
She sucks you deeper in
She is suffering
You exist within her shadow
I wrote loads about how well the melody works with the words and the harmony and so on but it's all a bit much for LJ really.
Stay lucky.
