Watched Ikuta Toma's Shinkansen RX ☆ Vamp Bamboo Burn today. This is the first day, a preview show, which was performed in Ueda, Nagano prefecture. Had to take the Hokuriku Shinkansen about one hour journey from Omiya.
The walk from Ueda station. What a peaceful city.
The venue, Santomyuze.
VBB poster inside the hall.
Damn this butai was long. Started at 12:00 PM and only finished at 3:30PM. No wonder I fell asleep several times LOL.
I wasn't trying to be rude, but after spending the whole night flailing about Kisumai con and waking up early PLUS not getting a seat in the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Ueda, I was sleepy as hell my head hurt. @.@;;
But nevertheless, I managed to be up everytime Toma showed up. That guy... He got the charisma. I might not be able to see his real face because of the heavy makeup and the wig, but he's got the charisma, I can tell that much. Damn my head really hurt. Won't be able to get to the apato until late tonight since my friend has the key and she's watching I Scream again today. Damn I really want to sleep!!!!
Now the butai. Hmm how should I say. I couldn't really understand the story in details since they talked a lot in Kansai dialect, and they inserted so many local jokes I think. Everyone was laughing for several times and I was like, what's funny about that??? But I can tell they got restricted by the venue itself. The stage set doesn't seem to be that extravagant. They used a lot of screens and probably that's the only thing they used to change the setting. Well I don't know if it's because of the venue, I never watched anything in Akasaka ACT Theater too, which would be their venue in Tokyo, so I don't know the level of the theater, but to compare with other theaters I've watched stuff in... Teigeki, Umegei, and even Shiki Theater are much better than that. They rely on the screens too much, IMO.
Toma did a great job though. He portrayed the Toshiro character perfectly IMO. And Koike Eiko too. Thumbs up for that lovely obasan. But the others were just... I don't even know what that JWest member doing there?? I like the second lead role better. Toshiro's rival character. Dunno what's the guy's name is. And what did he get naked for?? The Jwest member, I mean. Well there were a lot of JWest fans watching, saw some using the Arashi WakuWaku Gakkou totebag and some colored bandana, is this bandana an official Johnny Wota attribute or what? But they all definitely shrieked in shock when the Jwest guy showed up only wearing a sumo cloth (?) dunno what that called. And there were obviously too much talking.
Well the interesting thing about preview show like today, is that we actually get to fill in a kind of survey, to tell our impression about the show. Since I think my impression would be too harsh, and it's too troublesome to write in Japanese anyway, I left without filling in the form. Lol. Will just take it home for memento.
I'll write more when I think of something else. Now I need to catch a train back to Saitama. But Ueda is actually quite nice. A sweet nice small town. A mountainous one as well. Haven't had any chance to explore this city though, but look at this sweet view.
