» Name: Sanae Hanekoma
» Fandom: The World Ends With You
» Reference:
http://twewy.wikia.com/wiki/Sanae_Hanekoma» Canon Point: One week after Week 3, Day 7, when the gang meets up, and he's watching from a building.
» Gender: Male
» Age: His age is listed as unknown; considering he is an angel, he's probably lived for a very long time. He's got a mind set that goes between mid-twenties and mid-thirties. He appears to be in his mid-late thirties.
» Orientation: Unknown. He does not show any flirtatious/sexual tendencies.
» Personality: If you were to meet Hanekoma today, one thing you would be able to tell about him right off the bat is that he's rather easygoing. With a lazy unbuttoned shirt, he gives off this open and free air. He talks like he's an open book, and he almost could be. When the characters meet him, they are pretty easy to get to talk about things (at one point, Hanekoma even gets a aloof Neku to apologize; and they had pretty much just met), and he's willing to talk back, and perhaps share a few things. He's a kind individual, willing to give off tidbits about things he knows and gives up certain things (such as a sync pin that he gives Neku and Shiki).
Of course, this is the side he likes to show. The multifaceted Hanekoma can, and does, show off a less then glamorous side.
He's manipulative; he was able to use two people (Neku and Sho) into trying to stop the Composer from destroying Shibuya, without either of them knowing it, or actually having to do much of anything, a simple talk with Neku, and refining Sho's Taboo Noise refinery sigil so he could be resurrected; the latter was his back-up plan in case Neku failed. The latter he did, even as he knew it was all against the rules. He believes that Shibuya can be saved, and so he was willing to do whatever it took. He calls himself a big gambler, and he's willing to roll the dice to risk everything, even invoking the anger of the Higher Plane where Higher up angels are. He happily took on the title of Fallen Angel, due to his actions. He knows the risks and rewards... and the rewards won his decision.
Why was he so willing to risk everything for Shibuya? The people that lived there. There are people there that have great imaginations, and that was worth it to him. Through out the Secret Reports, he constantly makes remarks about Shibuya, and how different it is. Unlike Megumi, who believes Shibuya can only be saved if everyone is the same and there is no individuality, Sanae says, and proves, that Shibuya can only be saved through the differences that everyone has.
He's a people person. Sanae saved Shibuya because of the people that live there. He believes in individuality (as he says in the secret reports; 'Differences should not be denied; they should be accepted and enjoyed.') and bringing out the best in people. While he's the protector of the game, he's also the famous artist known as CAT. His art is mostly seen as graffiti hanging around Shibuya, as well as other forms of media. His artwork carries imprinting that attract exceptional souls and increase imagination and drive, making it easy for anyone who knows what the imprinting does to find the most creative minds. He's extremely creative and loves art quite a bit; which is why, perhaps, it's one of his jobs.
He has a total of three jobs during the game. Cafe owner, the artist known as CAT, and as the Game's Producer. As the Producer, he is the guardian of the game, watching to make sure that Reapers and Players all follow the rules; sort of a guardian to the game. This position is suppose to stay an absolute secret from everyone and anyone; however he is able to intervene just in case, so long as no one knows of his position. He's someone who's very good at hiding a secret. There are three high positions; the Composer, the Conductor, and the Producer, very similar to music. As the Producer, it's his job to oversee the recording of the artist (Composer's, in this case), music. The Game is the Composer's music, and it's his job to make sure it's played correctly.
Sanae's thoughts about being a producer are slim, almost never shown. However, it seems he has a lot of differing emotions on being one. It is shown that he's thankful for this position, being able to use it to save Shibuya as he did. He's perhaps upset that he could not lead Neku closer or help him more ('With the Composer in a parallel world, the proxy's position is perilous. Still, as Producer, I am bound by the rules. I can offer him no help... All I can do is guide him to the Shibuya River.'). However, a big emotion is the joy he shows in the final Secret Report towards Neku ('I am glad to have had the chance to meet you.'), for being able to change the Composer.
He's quite the enigmatic man. A good instance of this is when Neku asks who he is, rather then saying exactly what Neku wants to hear (his participation in the game), he goes off on a small rant about himself; including full name, blood type, favorite food, and so on. He'll steer the conversation down the path he thinks is best, not the path the certain person wants, and as someone who has a lot of secrets to hide, the path that will keep him as hidden as he needs to be. Even at the end of the game, the players themselves don't know all of Hanekoma's secrets.
He's a guy who will treat everyone the same. Whether or not it was because of the game, he treated Neku the same way as he treated Joshua. He likes people very much so (his reason, again, for saving Shibuya), and wouldn't treat anyone lower then himself. Teasing, however, is not completely out of the options, as he gives pet nicknames to Neku, calling him Phones, even though it upsets Neku, seeming as he has trouble remembering his name (however, it should be noted that Hanekoma does know Neku's name, as he calls him such in the secret reports, so these names are perhaps a friendly gesture).
Hanekoma, as well, is full of knowledge. While he doesn't know everything about everything, he knows a lot about the game (which makes it so much easier for him to manipulate and use Neku and Sho for his own uses), and it shows in his secret reports. He doesn't share everything he knows, and in fact, will share as little as possible with anyone, unless it benefits himself. This is part of his enigmatic personality, as well as the rules he plays by as an angel (an angel is only suppose to watch and not interfere at all).
Few thoughts are shared, even in the Secret Reports. However, in the game he played, he shows no regrets for what he did. He broads a little bit on his punishment, but is willing to accept the fallen angel position due to the actions in the game. He seems to show some respect, if it can be called that, for Sho Minamimoto; setting him up to be the next Composer, and mentioning things about his powerful Imagination. While no relationships between the two are technically shown, they have communicated enough that Hanekoma feels that Sho would be the best fit for taking down the Composer, due to his desire for the Composer's position, preference for solo action, and unconvential aesthic, which allows him to do out of the ordinary things without being questioned about it.
He found the game somewhat interesting, or at the very least, the people he's gotten a chance to meet. He seemed pleased to meet the people he had met, and in his Secret Reports, he shows no anger towards anyone in the game. Even as Beat runs away from the cafe, he loves the passion Beat shows. The passion for wanting to revive his sister, and it's why he gives him an ability to create Noise. Neku is, perhaps, the most interesting person he's met, for numerous reasons (his strong imagination, his ability to change himself and to help change others, and the fact that he prevented the destruction of Shibuya), and helps him however he can... so long as he doesn't directly interfer.
These things make up one Sanae Hanekoma.
» Appearance: From top to bottom, he's got what you could call 'Duck-butt' black hair that goes all the way down his neck, along with sideburns. He wears a pair of black sunglasses on his face. As well, he has black facial hair, and is rather fair skinned. He wears a dark-grey/black vest with a white shirt underneath it, the sleeves rolled up. On his left wrist, he has a watch. He wears a pair of black slacks, and sandals.. He's also very skinny/underweight.

» "amatomnes" Entry:
[The video turns on to a man whose currently standing... just there. He seems to be talking to himself.]
I don't mind the change of scenery, but... you coulda at least left my clothes on.
Now, I've got one question.
[Pause for a yawn. He looks at the camera]
...Where's the closest coffee shop? Just woke up, after all. Need a bit of focus.
» "amatomneslogs" Entry: If this was Shibuya, this certainly was one strange part of Shibuya. At least, that's what Hanekoma thought, waking up. Rubbing the back of his head lightly, as he sat up in the bed. Well, that had been a wild night... as far as he could remember. He had many nights... all seemed to blend together in the end. He sighed... hair was a mess, running his fingers through it. He had worked so hard on making it look at least kind of nice. That should've been the least of his worries, but... hey, he just woke up. He planned to take his time through this entire thing... one slow step at a time. Okay, so his hair was a mess, and he was naked. Naked was nothing new, really. He wasn't surprised by this. At least, not as much as the other things.
First of all, his location. He was currently in a bed in a room that was far fancier then his own. Way fancier. The sheets were soft, the bed was comfy... and hell, even the pillows, which were generally light and fluffy, were fluffier then normal pillows were. He sighed lightly; this wasn't the time to enjoy comfy pillows. No, he had things to figure out. Everything was racing, and he had to get to work on figuring it all out. There wasn't much time to just sit around and do nothing. The blankets were thrown aside, and there he found clothing. He quickly grabbed underwear and pants, wanting to get those two on first. After all, if what happened last night were to be true... a shirt would do nothing. He zipped up his pants, and slipped on his sandals. First things first...
He moved to the bathroom rather quickly, and decided to check. Nothing wrong with his hair and face... minus the job those people did to his hair. That would be fixed later. His neck was almost fine... minus a strange collar wrapped around it. He paused. "...What is this?" He grabbed at it and pulled lightly. Damn, it wasn't budging. Not even up or down. Not a clasp either. Basically this thing was staying on, whether he wanted it to or not. And he really, really did not. Sighing lightly... he needed coffee.
Was this his punishment? Well, he knew something was coming, but he didn't expect something like this. And he wasn't even sure he could trust something like this... would the higher ups really go so far? He paused as he left the bathroom, rubbing the back of his head. He dare not speak what he thought. Who knows who could be listening... and who could make his punishment far worse. He didn't have anything to save; as far as he knew, Shibuya was safe.
And for now; that would have to be enough to get him through this.
