A glass tipped over, spilling its contents onto the table and floor. In a rage she back-handed the remaining glass across the dining room, startling the other customers into silent murmurs about her behavior. She couldn't understand which surprised them more; the sudden outburst, or the realization that she was a real person to be considered and respected.
It was just too much. Everything happening in her world was just too much and when that glass over-flowed, everything she'd been dealing with and holding back tilted and poured out with it. No matter how diligently she cleaned it up, the stain stayed on the carpet and things would never be the same again.
