Hello all, I'm just whizzing by to say hi, and I'm gone again, lol.
Still enjoying myself very, very much! I'm making the most out of my one year here in Melbourne. While I won't go as far as to say that I'm maximising each and every day here, I'm definitely doing what I can with most of my days. I've received my results for my Semester 1 modules, and they're reasonably good. ^^ And so far, I've managed to do some stuff that I've never done before - snorkelling, some scuba-diving, cross-country skiing. Ah, even going to pubs and clubs. I've never been much for the night life back in Singapore, but I thought to myself, that if there's a time to appreciate activities that I usually don't attempt, now's the time. So, I've grown to enjoy chilling out at night spots with friends. I must have ingested more alcohol in these 6 months than I have in the last 6 years. But of course, it's all in the name of clean fun. I mean, I'm already 28 as it is. I'm not gonna do anything ridiculous like passing out drunk in an unnamed club, or going home with strange men, etc.
For all of my bitching about the winter season, I'm actually loving it. I'll never like the bitter cold, mind, but what I really love is the fact that I'm going through the whole four-seasons cycle here. In the past, I could only enjoy the different seasons if I went on vacation overseas. Now however, I'm actually living them. I came to Melbourne in summer, when it was so warm and stuffy I wanted to sleep naked, then it gradually progressed to autumn when I could wear layered clothes and play sports without feeling hot, and now winter, the time of thick jackets and boots and tights. I know all this is nothing special to many of you, LOL. But to me, it's just all so refreshing after having lived for 28 years in a tropical climate.
I miss Singapore!!! Ok, I know I've been whinging about this for some time now, but I have to do it. Sigh, I miss the food (OMG, the food), my friends and family back home, my former students (yep, I can't believe it either!), and the shopping! I shall SO enjoy myself once I'm back home next year!!! I also miss Penang prawn mee for that matter, so I wanna go back to Malaysia too, hehehe.
