Ramblings...
Winter is approaching and I'm not ecstatic. One of the biggest pains of such cold weather is the piling on of clothes. My winter clothes are not even that nice, sigh. Coming from a tropical country, all my winter clothes are more functional than pretty. LOL, very superficial. I get so jealous when I see all the beautiful boots and coats around me, haha.
I'm enjoying Masterchef Australia, but it's losing its lustre. It was very exciting at first, but it suffers from absolutely moronic editing, redundant recaps, and commercialisation.
Teaching in an Australian school is SO DIFFERENT from teaching back in Singapore. As with most situations, there're both good and bad about it. The support in the school for children with learning disabilities is REALLY praiseworthy. That's the major reason why I chose to do my Masters in special education in Australia. I also like the emphasis on creativity, free-thinking and oral-presentation in schools here. I think these are areas in Singapore schools that have MUCH room for development. Our Singaporean kids need to learn to speak up, speak well, and think outside the box. However, there are certain aspects that can be improved here. More structure and discipline will be good for starters. It's not that I dislike kids who challenge your reasoning, but sometimes there is NO REASON for the work they have to do. You HAVE to learn your subtraction, kids, and that's all there is. It wastes so much time trying to reason with kids who're whining about their schoolwork just for the sake of whining.
I miss Singapore so much now! Not really the country itself, but my friends and my family. ;__; And a plate of chicken rice that costs only SGD$3 back at home. 24-hour clinics. Super-efficient infrastructure and general administration.
I'm suddenly back into Gundam Wing 1x5. Do you guys even remember Gundam Wing, LOL. My first fanfic was a GW one, and it was written in 2003, a good 7 years ago! I loved 1x5, one of the most obscure GW pairings ever. And yep, I was one of those who detested 1x2, thought it was boring as hell. Haha. Anyway, after a 5-year hiatus during which I fell in love with other fandoms,
mooniecherry got me back into 1x5. It's like revisiting an old friend, lol.
