First Havaianas!

Type: Slim Silver Metallic & Slim Grey Crystal

Here are my first pairs of Havaianas! I know, I know, they really aren't that big of a deal, but to me, they are, LOL. I've always maintained - and still maintain - that Havaianas are Glorified Flip-Flops, but nonetheless, they remain firmly in the category of Everyone-Has-A-Pair-And-So-Shall-I.

Yet, everytime I check out Havaianas in Singapore stores, especially their price tags, I just could not bear to shell out that kind of money for *ahem* slippers! It's not until I got to Melbourne that I found that my brother and his girlfriend are both huge fans of those slippers, and so my interest was renewed.

So today, I was out strolling in town, waiting to have lunch with the aforementioned couple, when my brother called me and told me that they were buying Havaianas. Now, my brother really isn't all that fashion-conscious, but he is extremely comfort-conscious. Anything that is comfortable on his person is like gold to the boy. So he was like "They'rehavingasaleonHavaianas, yougetyourselfoverhere!", and so I tagged along.

Truly, as it turned out, one of those sportswear shops was having this 40% storewide sale. A typical pair of Havaianas slippers costs AUD$19.95 here, while the slightly more classy ones (metallic/prints/fitted/etc) cost AUD$29.95, and lastly those with crystals or metallic logos will cost AUD$39.95. I decided to go for the basic colours first since I was a Havaianas virgin and all. And so, that's how I ended up with my 2 pairs that cost AUD$42 in total, after the discount.

Having said all of that, although I'm excited over the novelty of owning these slippers, they would not replace the painful love affair I have with Birkenstock shoes. I say painful because the feeling you get when you see those gorgeous Birkenstock sandals that you cannot afford is nothing short of agony.

NOW, let me just bide my time and get hold of some gold or brown or pink Havaianas to round out my collection...
