For those who have not seen this beautiful movie, I sincerely rec this to you :)
And for those who have watched it, I don't think you'd mind this post :D

A Home at the End of the World, a film adapt to the titled novel by Michael Cunningham (author of The Hours).
As a boy, Bobby (played as an adult by Colin Farrell) loses both parents and his beloved older brother, ending up more-or-less adopted by the family of his best friend, Jonathan (played as an adult by Dallas Roberts).
Everyone loves Bobby; Jonathan has feelings to him beyond friendship; Bobby is open to the possibilities.
When Jonathan's mother, Alice (played by Sissy Spacek) discovers their intimacy, Jonathan moves to New York, leaving Bobby to play the "son" role in his family.

Bobby eventually follows Jonathan, now openly gay, to New York and falls in love with their roommate, Clare (played by Robin Wright Penn).
Soon Clare, who initially loved Jonathan and planned to have his baby, finds herself pregnant while the boys maintain an ambiguous relationship.
They move out to the country to form an alternative family, but then discover that not everyone in this love triangle can handle the dysfunctions .

Complicated, right? Even the characters are confused by the complexity.
Jonathan is gay, Clara is straight, but what about Bobby?

Jonathan: Bobby's not gay. It's hard to say what Bobby is.

Bobby can be bisexual, asexual, or even oedipal. I only certain that this character is a lover, and welcomes to all kind of loves.
He pleases those who give him love. He is optimistic and adapts to this world, as long as he is not being abandoned.

Clara: Is there anything you can't do?
Bobby: I couldn't be alone.

Colin's performance in this film is astonishingly spectacular!
I usually associate this handsome bad boy with crime-action blockbusters, along with his sex-tapes and drugs.
Never would have imagined him playing a character so sweet, peaceful, shy, quiet, gentle and camp (in a low-keyed manner).
Generally I find peace-maker boring (if not annying) but Colin's puppy face has my sympathy.
I think I fail to describe his incredible performance in words, so why don't you watch the clips yourselves?

If you are freaked out by Colin with the long wig hair in the beginning, don't worry 'cos who doesn't? his character is going to have it cut.
The kissing scene around 00:40-01:00 is Jonathan and some dude, not Colin.
His is here:

Colin babe I wish you have kissed Jared Leto ouch!

Anyway, Colin is not the only good part in the movie.
In fact, the casting is pretty rich and awesome.
Also, the 70's music is not to be ignored. And my favorite has to be Blind Faith's Can't Find My Way Home.

movie: a home at the end of the world, meta, review, picsspam, jerk: colin farrell
