ENTENTE’2010?

Dec 20, 2010 09:57

Term "Entente" is used to define the coalition, formally created on the 31st of August, 1907 and being a result of a logical movement of different countries towards each other. From one hand, it were France and Russia (17th of August, 1892), from the other one - France and England (8th of April, 1904). This coalition was to stand the "Triple Alliance" of Germany, Austria-Hungary and, temporarily, Italy during the First World War. Ill-timed bloc logic brought us through various treaties to the complicated events, started from the murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo.
So what’s the situation at the European front after nearly 100 years from that? In the hour when France stretches its hand to Great Britain, impatiently awaiting the opportunity to start producing Mistral-class ships for Russia, the temptation to draw certain parallels...as if having some doubts...is great.
