Rain, rain, rain.  That's all it's done today, and I was planning to paint the outside of the house too.  I had heard that Saturday was going to be good, but it wasn't to be.  I tasked myself with getting things done inside the house instead.  It's just me, so you'd think it would be easy, but please - where does all this dust come from in one-week.  When the inevitable move to Atlanta comes about I am going to buy (or rent for the first year) something that is a wee bit more manageable.   I end up working too many hours in the week and never feel like doing a bunch of work on the weekend.

I can feel fall's grip tightening around us.  Leaves have started to change color and the sedum is now a lovely shade of pink, a sign that cool evenings are here.

Next Friday I am off to Europe for two-weeks.  I am looking to get to Manchester.  The flights from the U.S. to the connect points look fine; however, the actual flights into Manchester are looking at little tight.  I've looked at connecting in London, Amsterdam, Paris, JFK and Atlanta.  Not struck on flying down to Atlanta.  The plan was to work Thursday - not fly south to fly north and have to leave early that day in the process.  It will just be a long-weekend in England this time.  I have to fly over to Prague and Amsterdam for work the following week, but I'll make the most of it.

After this trip there will be nothing before Atlanta, I'm sure of it.  We have to fill in an HR questionnaire early next month expressing our desires of our roles within the new company and our flexibility to move elsewhere.  I know that my job won't be in MSP so ATL is a given.  There are opportunities in other parts of the country too I suppose: Salt Lake City, Seattle, amongst others.  I have a choice of Seattle now and I never selected it so I doubt that I would now.  Atlanta would be convenient to everywhere anyway and I suppose the best place to be for opportunity.

I should see if I can get in touch with someone on LJ in Atlanta and see what the scoop is down there.  Can't hurt to get the 411 and see where the best places to live are.  People say it's a great place to live.  Depends on what they consider great though.
