*Oh god what had he done? What had he done? Conrad stares down at his hands, sitting on the edge of the sidewalk, hunched over as the night started to loom in overhead, stars poking out. His mouth and hands are covered in blood, and his whole body trembles. He completely lost it. He didn't mean to. Conrad just.. lost it and those two drones, ( Read more... )

[Finas was doing his own hunting, Halloween being the perfect excuse to lurk amongst the teenagers and picking off the stragglers for an easy meal. He noticed the blood first, well... he caught the scent. Curious he followed the trail and found...]

Mr. Achenleck?

*Conrad flinches at the sound of his voice, and looks up through his blood stained lenses of his glasses to look up at the older vampire. he wrings his hands together and stands up quickly*

M...Mr. Finas.

[Sighs and takes one of those bloodied hands, taking in his appearance before letting his hand drop.]

...I can't help you if you keep denying what you are.

*he holds that same hand, looking down at it, eyebrows furrowed before he looks back up at the elder*

I-I know I'm a vampire, okay?! But I didn't choose to be like this! I didn't want to be a blood sucker all my life! It's all that Sassy bat's fault! All her fault...

[And he's reaching up to backhand him, hard.]

Enough! What, do you think you're something special? The only one who never wanted to be a vampire? We never chose to be who we are, we all were given it without a choice. And as I recall it was your little redheaded friend who made you who you are... would you prefer death? It can be arranged. But whining and complaining about your condition will get you nowhere.

We are all forced into things we do not want to do, but we do them. You're a vampire now, so what? Deal with it. And you're stuck as one until a hunter decides to end your life and you're too much of a coward to fight back.

You need to grow up, Mr. Achenleck. Your friends will age and die, and you will remain. Then who will you have to hold your hand and baby you? No one. So I suggest you learn to accept what you are. Accept it.

*Oh god he almost falls back at the back handing, and stumbles back a few steps before he holds his cheek, staring up at him. He... swallows and looks down at himself. he never even thought about that before. Being a vampire meant he was going to be immortal. He was going to live longer than everyone else. He...

He purses his lips and reaches his hand up instead to rub at his face, letting out a shaky sigh, furrowing his brow again.*

It's hard... It's damn hard! You should know from your own personal experience! Didn't you want to deny it when you were first turned?!

Nothing in life is easy Mr. Achenleck. But we deal with things anyway because we have to. ...And I know enough from my own experiences, and it's none of your business. I didn't deny it, I dealt with it. But that's just how I am.

[Giving him a tight frown. Don't... you make him remember his wife, Conrad. Don't.]

*He crosses his arms, narrowing his eyes*

Don't you wish you could be human again?

...Why would I want to? There is nothing left for me there. And the sooner you realize that the better.

*His shoulders slump slowly*

You don't miss being human just a little bit? Being able to eat? Sleep during the night and step out into the sunlight? Anything at all?

I had a taste of all that while being here, and while it was nostalgic I am glad that I have it back... despite the sacrifice I made. I've been this way for so long that I no longer desire that life.

[Hesitating then.]

...There was a time, in my earliest years before Casimiro, where I may have doubted. But that was a long time ago. Now let's get you home and clean you up, I trust you've had your fill?

*He swallows and decides not to question him anymore. What was the point in making this guy madder? Conrad nods and glances up at him.*

Y-yeah. I think I drank a little more than I should have. I haven't drank in a while.

Then lead the way, Mr. Achenleck.

[Sighing softly as he nodded for him to start walking.]

I apologize for hitting you, but there are times where it is necessary. Don't... send the assassin again. [Sounding tired.]

No. I won't send him, and I didn't send him the other time. He did that on his own.

*Originally he was staying at Zevran's house for a while, but he could go home just this once. Plus if Zevran saw him with blood all over him with Finas in tow, it wouldn't end too well. So he walks down the street in the general direction of his home*

Your victim syndrome sent him.

[Said tiredly, rubbing his head as he followed. He didn't want to argue about it. Growing quiet, following silently.]

*and he walks silent as well through the entire trip back to the house. Once they make it back to Conrad's home, he opens the door and steps inside quietly.*

I'm sorry, about the whole Zevran thing. I won't play the victim anymore.
