Thoughts on Naka-Kon 2013

Overall, it was all right. I was one of the fortunate ones who avoided the 3-hour long registration line on Friday.

I've never spent so much time in the game room at a con. I felt that 90% of the time, there was nothing to do. I went to two panels the entire weekend. Granted, most of Saturday morning in the game room was due to me watching NeoMordiki's things while he was in the YuGiOh tourney, but I did go to the dealer's room more times than usual.

The paneling just feel so empty. I'm too used to cons where I have to make so many decisions over what panels I go to when... this con, nada.

I was social and got to see a lot of my con friends, but I just feel like there were so many missed opportunities.

The upside is I learned a lot more about YuGiOh than I did before, and I got some good trades done for both YGO and MTG. But that was pretty much it.

It didn't help that Neo got the shaft on his panel (midnight to 1 am for Duelist Academy, so his co-host wasn't able to be there) and he lost his car keys on Friday (which were found and returned to him on Sunday before we left). So most of his weekend was filled with frustration. The good news is that his Reversal Quiz deck went 3-2 in the tourney and he was in the top 8.

I just feel like there need to be some serious changes made with Naka in the future. I'll go next year, but if it turns into another Anime Iowa, I just may have to skip it from that point on. :(
