I feel the need to show off again. I've recently become a huge fan of the WoW song, "Lament of the Highborne", sung by the Banshee Queen. It's in the language of the blood elves, Thalassian. Well, since I'm bored, have nothing better do to, and my curiosity got the best of me, I wanted to see what it would look like if it was in Sindarin. So, here's my version of it.

Lament of the Highborn
Naergon e-Darennin

Anar'alah, Anar'alah belore
Sin'dorei
Shindu fallah na
Sin'dorei
Anar'alah
Shindu Sin'dorei
Shindu fallah na
Sin'dorei
Anar'alah belore
Shindu Sin'dorei
Shindu fallah na
Sin'dorei
Anar'alah belore
Belore

By the light, by the light of the sun
Children of the blood
They're breaking through!
Children of the blood
By the light
Failing children of the blood
They’re breaking through
Children of the blood
By the light of the sun
Failing children of the blood
They’re breaking through
Children of the blood
By the light of the sun
The sun

Nan galad, nan galad en-Anor
Hîn e-hereg
Trî vreithar!
Hîn e-hereg
Nan galad
Fired hîn e-hereg
Trî vreithar!
Hîn e-hereg
Nan galad en-Anor
Fired hîn e-hereg
Trî vreithar!
Hîn e-hereg
Nan galad en-Anor
En-Anor

(Edit: after playing the game, I found the real English lyrics. I translated 'failing' as 'fading'; since Tolkien didn't create the verb 'fail', and my thesaurus says that 'fading' as an appropriate synonym.

Although, as an afterthought, it would have made more sense to do this in Quenya, since it's known as High Elven, rather than Sindarin, which is Grey Elven... :P

... How much more of a nerd could I possibly be???

video games, sindarin, lotr, elvish, lyrics
