Things I've enjoyed lately:
* Sa Femme by Emmanuèle Bernheim. It was assigned in my French class but it is so sparse and fantastically written, in the vein of Robbe-Grillet- I like books that make you put together the narrative yourself. And it's an enormous soap opera-style story, and it's become such a joke between my classmates that it's bizarrely easy to speak French without too much hesitation when we're teasing about it.
* Schoko-bons. Where have you been all my life?! And I will stop at nothing until I find the Kinder hippos. Any suggestions? I tried World Market but they didn't have any Kinder chocolates at all.
* Making weird connections between things. It suddenly struck me while watching Stage Door (thank you
stardustdarling!) that the lady in this photo, which I have quite adored for a while--it reminds me of Mucha--is the same Constance Collier from that film.
* Willy Mason and Sean Hayes. Musicians in the same vein, and they've improved my mood immensely of late.
* Full Frame this week!
* Buying new plants. I have a lovely new Peace Lily for the living room.
Irritants:
* Synthroid making me feel like I'm going bald. I need a dose readjustment, stat. And I rue stupid Mediterranean blood for giving me such a thing. Only illnesses I ever have are due to my Italian relatives. I'm just waiting for me to get an autoimmune disease (they SWEAR this isn't one, but I don't really believe them).
* People who don't follow through on their commitments to things. Every time I have to film, I have an actor drop out. It drives me nuts and is so terribly inconvenient, as I have to try in a short amount of time to find someone else. And I've not the connections to the art community here that I did at home, so it's not particularly easy.
* The fact that the device to back up my hard drive has been sitting in Greensboro since five pm on Friday and they have yet to deliver. UGH, I hate you, UPS.
