“Soddin’ dog,” I muttered and glanced down at Ralphie as I held onto his leash so he can do his … business. Buffy was inside, gettin’ things ready for when Angel and the kids to come over. Hard times it was, fact that Faith killed Harry and such, even though she was possessed. Guess it’s better for her to be like that than … just being her and kill ( Read more... )

Connor got everything ready at the hotel and once the sun set enough, we headed for the beach house. I was mostly on autopilot and I think Connor felt the same way. Only he was the one taking care of everything. I didn't know how to thank him for that ( ... )

The silence was so thick in the room it was nearly suffocating. I still didn't understand what was going on. Faith was possessed by something and then just randomly attacked Angel and Harry? That didn't sound like her at all, unless she went evil again. She didn't go evil again, did she? I think someone might have noticed if she was back on that train. Then again, somedays I couldn't even tell whose side Angel was on, so why would he even catch something like that ( ... )

We just sat there, still, listenin' to ... well, nothin'. Except for Ralphie who was walkin' around the house like he owned it, which well, guess you could say he did. I watched Buffy as she sat there, lookin' helpless as I did because really, we couldn't do anything. Not now and this was all awkward, even for me, which was surprising.

After Angel poured himself another drink, I grabbed the bottle and poured myself one before sittin' back against the couch, watchin' as Buffy got up and sat next to Angel, askin' him if he needed anything.

Sure he does, shit we can't give him.

Lookin' over at Angel, I watched him for a second before lookin' back down at the floor, focusin' on Ralphie and waited for Angel to say what happened, yet I doubt he would actually say anything. He seemed to be just out of it.

"Or ... you can head upstairs, get some sleep," I offered and gave him another glance. "Won't hurt none."

I stared down at the drink I poured for myself, but didn't drink it yet. Might, might not. At least there was the option. Buffy sat down next to me, asking if there was anything I needed. Yes. No. Maybe. I don't know ( ... )

"We are the slayer?" I felt the blood freeze in my veins as I listened to what Angel said. But huh? How? What? I knew where that came from, because hello that psycho took over my dreams after we took down the initiative all those years ago. She was big on the 'we's'. Like I was supposed to identify with her or something ( ... )

I listened to them both and just stared at Buffy before shaking my head. This was all nuts. Why would Faith call the first Slayer, or whatever the sod in the first place? Didn't make much sense but now we were fucked anyway because she was unstoppable. Not that it really stopped any of us before, but hey ...

"Well then, this is just ... wonderful," I said and picked up my glass, inspectin' it before grabbing the bottle and pouring some more in there.

"Where is she now?" I asked, and yeah, might have been a stupid question, but hey, I was curious and all.

The first slayer? I frowned, listening to her explain everything. It made sense in the way that Faith was acting but why the fucking hell would she call up on the first slayer to control her?

Okay, I could think of a few reasons. Two of which were outside on that beach. Could she even have done that by herself?

"I don't know.. I mean, don't think she did any sort of spell. She was at the hospital for days and then we found her upstairs. Even if she'd been able to get a spell together, I don't know when she would have had the time to actually do it."

Did Connor know what was going on? If he was going to be running into the first slayer and not know it? I didn't know what would happen to him.

"Alec told Connor that she and Grace were heading to Georgia. They're going after the two of them."

"Faith isn't really one for doing magick, she would have had to have help." Which made me automatically think of her sister. Didn't she somehow magically teleport herself onto that stupid island where we were all stuck? I was pretty sure that she had, which made her the likely culprit. But wasn't she in a coma? My head hurts.

"None of this sounds right at all. Are you sure this wasn't a Wolfram and Hart operation?" I asked Angel but he looked...so lost. God, it was breaking my heart. We may not be...anything anymore but I still hated to see him like this. Try as I might I couldn't just turn off all of my feelings for him.

"You know what? It's okay. Connor and Alec went after Faith and Grace. The kids are safe for now, we'll figure out what to do about Harry...when we have to." I pressed my mouth into a thin line as I put my hand on Angel's arm and shot another look towards Spike. "We have your back, whatever happens." I promised him, wondering if there might come a time when I have to break that promise.

I watched Buffy be all touchy feely with Angel and I almost wanted to roll my eyes at it and puke a lil' in my mouth as the kids are sayin' these days. I understand what just happened, Angel's lost his lover, boo hoo. Alright, so I couldn't be that heartless, even though right now, I think I deserve the right to be, but ... I couldn't.

Better man I am, so I might as well act like it.

"Right," I said and looked over at Buffy before gettin' up from the couch.

"The kids are alright, you're ... well, and Connor is also here. Things will get figured out and all that rot and ... we're behind you. No matter what you need," I said and glanced out the window, watchin' Connor with the kids.

Bad run of luck they have, me thinks.
