What the soddin' hell was I goin' to do? I was tempted to follow her, just because I didn't want her to be out there alone - or I didn't want her to attack anyone else, but somethin' else told me to go home. Tell Buffy. She had to know. I wanted her to in a way and in another way, I just wanted Sophia to leave. Bitch already made it clear that she ( Read more... )

It was a slow night and Ralphie wasn't used to staying home alone just yet so I had decided to stay in. For once things were quiet at the office and I was enjoying all of the free time to get caught up on important things like shopping, and tanning. Have I mentioned the shopping? Because really the only tan I've seen is when Cordelia has me running errands for her all day long.

I heard Spike come in and rolled my eyes a little cause I half expected to have him lurch in smelling like alot of whiskey again. He was making a habit of that and okay, he's Spike so I guess I'm used to it by now. Walking into the kitchen my eyes narrowed as I finally caught sight of his face. This was a little more than a bar fight by the looks of it ( ... )

She wanted to know what happened and I was thinkin' of a million different ways of tellin' her. But, there was only one way I could say it. Not startin' from the beginnin' of course, but ... that would come later ( ... )

I just studied him carefully with my arms still crossed over my chest. He looked really nervous, which isn't exactly unheard of but it's not like Spike gets nervous all the time or anything. My expression darkened when he said he met up with someone from his past and my thoughts instantly turned to Drusilla. I rolled my eyes. Was all of this about her? I thought he was over that.

Then he said he turned her, whoever she was and even though Giles complained that I never did enough homework I'd done enough to know how that had worked. Drusilla had turned Spike, not the other way around. This was someone completely different. Someone Spike had made and now she was back in town to try and mess up our lives. It never really stops, does it ( ... )

I couldn't stake her and it wasn't just because I didn't have a soddin' stake. Should have had one anyway. Just remembered what was goin' through me when she was ... near me. There was somethin' different about her, I could sniff it out. Tellin' Buffy about that? Not exactly easy, but I'm thinkin' I should at least try. Mostly because the bitch might go after her. Would rather her know what she's about ( ... )

Stronger than....? I waited, leaning forward just a little, trying to catch the ending of his sentence but he just trailed off. Stronger than what? Stronger than me? Stronger than Glory or the First Evil? I really doubt it.

I've heard people try and tell me that the newest big bad in town was stronger than I was. That I couldn't handle something. Hell, even my friends have said as much to me before, but Spike? Spike was always the one who thought I was strong enough and that I could handle everything. Now I was worried.

"It doesn't sound like you're handling this at all." I pointed out to him, because it really didn't. He was barely even telling me anything at all. "How is she stronger than a normal vampire? I know that you made her, Spike but she can't be that strong." I quirked an eyebrow in his direction. Was this some lame sire thing? God, I'd already had all I could take with Angel and Darla and Spike and Dru and whoever else.

"Well, Buffy, so sorry I didn't keep in touch with her all these years," I said sarcastically as I looked down at her. "Not sure why she's that much stronger than apparently Angel and Harry," and me, "but something's different. There's a different air about her, love. Don't know why, I wasn't exactly able to ask and I am handling it!"

No, I wasn't but I wanted to pretend, yeah?

Shakin' my head, I looked down at the tile again. "I'll just go and get Angel. Figure he'll help me on this, we'll take care of it. Don't much want you part of it. My problem, just wanted you to know about it so you can be prepared in case ... she comes here or somethin'," I shrugged, not really knowin'.

Didn't want to off her, but I knew that's what I needed to do before she did anymore damage.

Stronger than Harry? So what? I like Harry, but I don't exactly think he can take me in a fight. Angel? That was a little more questionable. I still didn't really understand what this different "air" was. Was that supposed to mean something to me? It means that Spike doesn't want to tell me everything. Great. Because it's not like I have a ton of people I actually trust in town and he just happens to be one of them ( ... )

"Right, because it's all about you Buffy. The world just can't soddin' fuckin' function without YOU, right?" I was gettin' pissed at her and it wasn't even ABOUT her. But, of course - she was probably right, everything does come back to her and she does figure everything out. Maybe I shouldn't have come to her though about this. Angel and I could have probably figured this out.

...

Right.

"I don't know what's going on, alright? I don't. Thought I'd tell you what I know which isn't much as you so sarcastically reminded me," I said with a roll of my eyes. Turnin' around, I grabbed a bottle of whiskey that I kept inside of the fridge before grabbin' a glass. Sod this. She wonders why I go out and drink everynight.

Ralphie came in the kitchen, barkin' up a storm and I just rolled my eyes, again.

"Your child needs to be walked," I muttered and poured me a glass 'o whiskey and walked out toward the living room.

Why was he being such a jerk? He was the one who came here tonight to warn me about something he couldn't explain and then tell me that whatever it was, was some ex of his who was apparently stronger than I am. Narrowed my eyes as I watched him grab a bottle of something.

"Why are you being such a freak about this?" I demanded as I followed him into the living room and grabbed him by the arm spinning him around hard to face me, I don't really care if he has a breakable bottle in his hand or not.

Ralphie was still barking in the kitchen but I was ignoring him for now. He would have to be walked soon and he's not....my child. Spike got him for me for Christmas and now he hates him. That's just my luck.

"I get the feeling you're not telling me something here, but that's probably because you have to run off and get drunk and tell Angel about it first. Why do you even bother coming back here, Spike?"

She grabbed me by the arm askin' me why I was bein' such a freak? She was the freak! Just glared at her and then looked at my drink before lookin' back at her. Least I didn't spill it and if that soddin' dog didn't shut it's gap I was gonna break it's fuckin' neck! Okay, I wouldn't, but hell ( ... )

He was looking at me like I was crazy but after a few minutes he was talking almost as fast as Willy the Snitch used to when I would threaten to pummel him. Hey, I didn't even have to threaten to pummel Spike. That was progress, right? And they say I can't have functional relationships.

I frowned when he said that she kissed him. Of course she kissed him, the skanky crazy exes always have to say goodbye the right way. Kind of like how I say goodbye the right way. Only I use a stake. It's almost like a kiss, only a little more final. A kiss from Mr. Pointy.

So she's a slayer turned vampire, or a vampire turned slayer. Either way, it spells bad news. At least things are never boring around here.

"She wants to make you fly? She can't be that good of a kisser." I quirked an eyebrow in his direction but he only kept looking at me seriously ( ... )

"How can I NOT be the best to handle this?" I said seriously and sighed before sittin' myself down on the sofa and grabbin' my glass. I knew that I couldn't do it alone - didn't want to ... needed help but I'm assumin' that of course, Buffy wanted to help. Maybe I wanted her help.

Actually, I knew I did.

Lookin' up at her, I nodded and took a sip of my drink before puttin' it back down again. I wanted to tell her that I was sorry for yellin' at her, but I didn't. 'Sides, she didn't say she was sorry for bein' a sarcastic bitch. We don't say sorry, it's understood for the most part. It was fine. Shakin' my head, I grabbed her arm and pulled her toward me and on my lap.

"I'm not just going to have you handle this. I started this mess, might as well, finish it," I told her and looked up at her, pushin' the hair out of her face. "Sorry about it though, crazy bitch she is. She'll tell you things that are probably true, just don't listen to her. You know the truth; I'd never lie to you," I said.

Hadn't I just illustrated all the reasons why he would probably suck at being the one to handle this right now? I was pretty sure that I did and there wasn't really any good reason to explain it again because obviously I wasn't getting through to him.

Suddenly he pulled me down so I was sitting on his lap and I frowned at him again but I wrapped one arm around his shoulders, at least with me on his lap he didn't have the glass in his hand anymore.

"Spike, we're a team, okay? I don't want this girl messing with your head anymore than she already has. You have to let me help."

I sighed when I heard the doorbell ring.

"Hold that thought." I said as I got up to answer it.

I ran all the way to the beach and just my luck, nothing that went bump in the night was around for me to kick the shit out of. Fuck what a night. I looked up at Buffy and Spike's house and decided that I might as well see if they would be cool with me crashing for a couple of days.

The house was nice, but being near the beach reminded me of sending my dad into the ocean. Further proof of how sadistic I was at heart. My instincts screamed evil.

I approached the door and rang the bell, stuffing my hands in my pocket as I waited for someone to answer. I could hear their dog barking.

When she answered, I gave her a look that could only be described at pitiful. "Any chance the guest room is free for a couple of days?"

I watched her as she went to get the door and I got up, right behind her, thinkin' that perhaps it was Sophia. She was straight forward mostly, she'd probably just use the front door. But, I relaxed when it was Connor. Leanin' against the wall behind Buffy, I watched him and tilted my head and pushed off the wall when he asked if he could stay for a couple of days.

"Yeah ..." I said. "What's goin' on?" What was goin' on now? Somethin' had to be because usually no one came by at all to our place and if they did, it certainly wasn't to stay a few days.

As he walked in, I followed him toward the livin' room and waited for him to explain why he was here. All I'm sayin' is that if he just wanted to hang out, then ...I'd be surprised.

Connor was at the door looking like he'd been diagnosed with cancer of the puppy. I couldn't deny a face like that! Even if Spike and I were just about to get into it. "Of course." I said as I stepped back so he could come inside the beach house that Harry had been nice enough to give us.

Once he was standing in the middle of the living room I wasn't sure what to say to him. "Is everything okay, Connor?" Alright, stupid question, even I'll admit that. "You can stay here as long as you want." I nodded at him giving Spike a look that said Connor could stay here as long as he wanted cause I said so.

I couldn't help it, Connor's pouty lip looked alot like Angel's. Which meant, that I was bound to give him whatever he needed right now.

Well, not whatever. Okay, eww. "Did something happen?" I asked him.
