...Palin's a book-banning, earmark-addicted Alaskan secessionist who wants Christian Creationism given equal time alongside evolution in public schools. (No doubt she wants all other religious creation myths given equal time, too. The CFSM can really get behind this one.)
Worse than Dan Quayle?

Is your point "why would anyone vote for her?" or "gaaaah!" or something else entirely?
If the former, then aside from Alaskan seccessionist, my impression is that Republicans in (say) Kansas would identify with her as one of their kind. If the middle, well, I want to say that you hit that point a long time ago looking at McCain, and so who cares about the second-in-command.
If the latter, then I *completely* missed your point, for which I apologize, and I would be grateful if you could elaborate. :)

I get why people would vote for her: they're missing critical intellectual connections between specific causes and effects. It's the same rocket fuel McCain hopes to burn.
To me, the choice of VP is valid because if elected, McCain stands a statistically real chance of dying while in office.

...made me picture a political cartoon of you, chained to a launch pad at Kennedy Space Center, as part of the brackets supporting a rocket's tail fins, with McCain waving a cowboy hat from the top of the rocket, the PA blaring "T MINUS 9... 8... 7...", and you rolling your eyes and saying "Yeah, GREAT...".
