...Or more correctly, Typewriters into Firearms.
A few months ago while on the job, I got the opportunity to score a really cool old typewriter. This very interesting older woman was throwing away a huge quantity of art supplies, knicknacks, and odds-n-ends from a downsize move. She used to work for the American diplomatic corps in Moscow, in addition to being a great traveler and patron of the arts. This typewriter she was getting rid of took my fancy... it was an old portable manual typewriter with a Cyrillic keyboard in a case, and I thought "Hey, that's pretty cool, I bet I could do something with that." I mean, it was used in the American embassy in Moscow for years.
Well, I finally got off my ass and did some research on it. Turns out it's a Groma Model N, made in Germany in 1939. One of the other models of typewriter made during this period by Groma was the official SS issue. It is also rather rare. So rare, that only a handful have come up for auction in the last few years. I'm selling it to a collector for $350. And then I'm buying this:
And it was good.
