Seeing as I have quite a colorful history with violent people, I feel the need to say something.

I don't have a psychology background at all, but I have no doubt that violence is addictive. As some have said above, it's an easy answer. And a fast release of stress and anger. violence comes in all forms. Words are the most common. Everyone is violent with their words. From chewing someone out for being an idiot, to punching a wall, to screaming just to get the anger out.

Those who are truly addicted, seem to have absolutely no control over themselves. From swerving around you in their car, to screaming obcsenities, to fighting. They release their anger as soon as it bubbles up inside them. From my experience, these are the people who give no thought to consequences, or the effect their behavior has on other people because THEY feel better when it's all over, so why shouldn't everyone?

It's an addiction. People come to rely on it as their only method of communication. It's a shame really. Because it lessens the good that people have in them.
