Recap: I get to see movies for free.
Booyah bitches.
So I 'decided' to see the "'Hangover' killer" which was 'Due Date' about a week ago.
Now, let me preempt this with what I was told about the movie; that it was a Planes, Trains and Automobiles 'remake'. I HATED P,T, & A. The car rental scene was the only funny thing about it. I don't know what it was, I just could not relate with the characters or get into the movie. So when my friend dragged me to go see it, I was more than reluctant. I was dragging my feet and trying not to go.
I'm glad I did.
To borrow a phrase: shit was so cash. (Pic related, it's me and my bitch)
I won't post too much in case of spoilers, but the main characters, Peter and Ethan, get put on a no-fly list and have to travel from Georgia to LA for the birth of Peter's child. How they get put on the no-fly list is a bit crazy, but totally believable. That's where the believability ends, and I think that's why I love it. PT&A in my opinion just tried too hard to be believable. Due Date was all like 'Ok, some crazy shit happens, but let's take it a bit further.' There had to be dozen's of stunt doubles in this movie. It was insane. And Robert Downey Jr. gets shot! How fucked up is that?! Not the King of /cgl/, NOOOOOO!
Jamie Foxx's pivotal cameo had me rolling in my seat. It wasn't one of those 'Oh well some big name actor/singer/porn star has paid money to be in our movie, let's throw them in', the part didn't seem written for Jamie. It seemed like it was written to fit into the movie and they just happened to have a big name actor for the part (Not that I'm saying Jamie's a HUGE name, but he sure isn't a character actor).
All in all, it was a good cute movie. The last 10 min I had tears of laughter. Go see it! NOW!
