The flu that's been going around the Knowne World got me yesterday; I discovered yesterday morning that I was in no shape to go to work. Given that my E&M final was last night, I was notably concerned. I spent the day in bed, and took good care of myself, and the main symptoms seem to have passed . . . or at least subsided. I just need to take it easy for the next week--LotRaThon and RotK are not to be missed.
I put my convalescent time to good use, thanks to Mr. Tolkien. Most of you know (confession time) that I've never read chronologically througth the Lord of the Rings before. Blame the BBC production for relating the story so well. Anyway, Tuesday night I started at "King of the Golden Hall," with the intention of reading through to the end before the premiere of Return of the King the next week. I'm currently at "The Forbidden Pool," so the goal is still reachable.
I still don't know how I did on the Third E&M Test at COC (taken last Friday), though I had the distinct feeling that it kicked my ass at the time. I can comfortably say, however, that the Final was crushed beneath my booted heel last night. And while the technical complexity of this class was nowhere near Mudd's E&M, the workload was almost comparable. I proved to myself this semester that I could buckle down on a class and thoroughly learn its material by doing all the homework; a power which I seemed to have lost over the last couple years. Just in time, too; I'm still a bit apprehensive about January, but at least I can see the path now. Now, I just have to walk it.
