When I was just a little girl...

Another winter on the Upper East Side, means more parties. Both family and friend parties and business holiday parties. This particular party is all friends and family, everyone from Grace's friends group is there and they are all holed up in a corner of the penthouse while the parents mingle in the main part of the penthouse. Christmas parties in general, which this one is, also mean presents, eggnog, good food, and mistletoe.

It's usually hung in an arch by a table of refreshments, good-natured friends giving kisses to the cheek as they get something and are at the table with each other. The kids, haven't quite paid attention to it until this particular year. Ten years old and Grace is starting to realize quite fast that she is the only girl in her friends group. This hasn't stopped her from playing with the guys, she's always the first one to be there when they're playing soccer, after all.

Now though, she's old enough to eye the mistletoe warily every time she dashes to get food off the table it's hung over. Harrison, Bryant, and Jamie have already tried cornering her over there, looking for the kiss that comes with the tradition of standing under it. It's no wonder she's starting to catch the eyes of the boys in a different way, really. She's already lost most of her baby fat playing sports with the boys, she's starting to fill out, and she's wearing a red velvet dress with white trim and her hair is pulled back with a matching bow; the picture of a Christmas angel. It also doesn't help that they know it's her first kiss, and the three have been competing for a while to be the first to steal it from her.

To combat the boys, she's glued herself to Jude's side for the most part. When not at Jude's side, she's been hiding behind her father, who only smiles at her with a hand on her back.

Coast seeming clear at one point she makes her way over to the table, pointedly ignoring the mistletoe above her. When Jude comes over to get something too, she blinks, tips of her ears turning just the slightest pink color. He's nice enough not to expect the kiss from being under the mistletoe, not pushing her to give away her first kiss. It's that very reason, when he turns to say something to her, that she leans up and in to kiss him softly.

After a moment, she pulls back from the kiss with wide brown eyes and a blush spreading along her cheeks and down her neck into the collar of the dress. There's a very hesitant smile at him before she bolts from the table, wrapping her arms around her father's waist. Chuck wraps an arm around her, frowning softly at what had caused her to bolt into him. Though a glance around, spotting a still Jude under the mistletoe watching her and the pinkness of her skin only turn the frown into a soft smile. He can't help smile at how shy his normally take charge, in your face daughter is being after a kiss. He leans down, murmuring that her mother has something for her. Grace nods, looking back at Jude with that soft, hesitant smile again before going in search of her mother.

ues, chuck, jude
