Wrestling News For This Weekend

Mar 09, 2005 12:09

Here is the list of shows this coming weekend:

Fri. March 11 - NNW - Sanford, Florida - http://www.nonamewrestling.com
Sat. March 12 - NWA FL - Davie, Florida - http://www.nwaflorida.com
Sat. March 12 - PPW - Ruskin, Florida - http://www.ppw-wrestling.com
Sat. March 12 - MXPW - Davie, Florida - http://www.maximumprowrestling.com
Sun. March 13 - NNW - Orlando, Florida - http://www.nonamewrestling.com

The NNW show is headlined by Erick Stevens defending his NNW Overall Title vs. Sedrick Strong in a TLC match. All of their encounters in NNW have been good, and I don’t see why this one won’t be the same. The semi-main is a three-way with Naphtali defending his Cruiserweight Title against Dagon Briggs and Vordell Walker. I’m not quite sure how Vordell is a cruiserweight, but it should be a good match nonetheless.

Saturday will see 3 shows, 2 of which will be right down the road from each other. End result - The fans of professional wrestling are the losers in this one. NWA FL is in Davie featuring Lex Lovett defending his NWA Southern Heavyweight Title against Abyss. 911 Inc.’s Bruce Steele and Rod Steel will take on Steve Madison and Antonio Banks. Mikey Batts will defend his X Division Title against Naphtali. This should be a decent show. I wish that I could make it, but it’s not looking like I’m going to.

MXPW will be running right down the street. Their card has Norman Smiley defending his MXPW Heavyweight Championship against Chaz. Also advertised is Lex Lovett defending his MXPW Television Title vs. Ryan O’Reilly. I’m 99.9% positive that this match isn’t going to happen because Lovett will be working the NWA FL show instead. I believe that he and Steve Madison will be doing some sort of pre-tapings for MXPW during the day and then heading over to NWA FL to wrestle that evening.

The other show on Saturday is PPW in Ruskin, Florida. No matches are being advertised. The only thing being advertised is EVENT MATCHES, TALENT AVAILABLE and SUPERSTARS GALORE, whatever that means. The show is free, but will people be interested in going to a show that has absolutely no one advertised?

On Sunday NNW returns for their second show of the weekend. The main event will see The Maree-O’s taking on the winner of the Picture Perfect vs. Barney Rumble and Demetrick Malloy tag title match on Friday. The semi-main event will be Rip Malibu vs. Hawk from Tough Enough 2 fame. The only other match announced is a Featherweight Challenge which will be Legion Cage vs. WiKiD. I think other matches will be determined by what happens on the Friday show, so I guess we’ll have to keep an eye out for how that plays out.

If you get a chance, then go check out some Florida Wrestling action!
