A Rent Mood - Will Pearce and Staff

May 09, 2005 09:01

Rent was blasting within and without of William Pearce's office, and if the residents and staff didn't know what that meant, the old-timers let them know.

Dr. Pearce wasn't to be disturbed unless there was an emergency. Tell the younger parents that Rent had a mature rating and while Pearce would keep it down for their sensitivity, he would not stop playing it until he had figured out what was gettting to him. He would, however, skip the more ribald songs.

Sam Hansen blew a thick lock of brown hair out of his face, frowning down the hallway at the mostly closed door of the Head of the Department as 'Today For You' started, and he could hear Pearce singing along. Of course, the tone was right on. Will couldn't play an instrument to save his life, but his voice was a pitch perfect tenor.

Sam started playing the drum part atop the nurses's station desk, turning to look at Jessica Wells, who was looking down the hallway with equal concern. "What do you think? One of our patients on a downward slide? Vogler on his back again?"

"Christ, Sam, you know I can't diagnosis a Rent-mood Pearce within an inch of my life." Jessica said wryly, hugging her clipboard to her chest, her auburn ponytail swinging side to side. "Way too many variables."

Constance clucked her tongue, looking over the top of her glasses at the both of them. "You know when he gets like this to just leave him be. He always works it out for himself, in the end."

"Yeah, and we got rounds." Jessical lightly clapped Sam on the chest with the clipboard.

"All right -- tell us when he gets to 'La Vie Boheme'." Sam let out his own sigh, and followed after Jessica.

Got a fire in your brain
Feel like you're going insane
And you're thinking of drinking gasoline?

As a matter of fact ...

Honey, I know this act,
It's called
The Tango Maureen...
