Summary: A little something inspired by the final Jack/Angela scene at the end of 4.01 - Yanks in the UK (So obviously spoilers for that ep!).
Snap
He'd forgotten how hard it affected him sometimes.
Life. Love. Loss. All the day to day mishaps you're sure are aimed directly at you, despite your better judgement.
And why?
Cause she came along and changed everything. Everyone.
Especially him.
From day one she made the lab a brighter place. Before her the victims were just that. Victims. They didn't have histories, or personalities. They didn't smile with toothless grins, and freckled cheeks. Didn't mean much more to any of them, than a case number, a murder weapon and a handful of various particulates.
As for him? He was nothing more than a raving conspiracy nut, with a bad temper and an endless chain of unsuccessful relationships. She changed that too, or so he'd thought.
Then suddenly there was the unexpected muttering of questions and accusations. The sound of retreating footsteps, echoing a sway of hips he knows all too well and just like that it all came crashing back to him with a snap.
Snap.
Snap.
Eventually the sharp sting against the inside of his wrist dulls to nothing more than a constant throbbing, a numbness reminiscent to the one he's desperately trying to ignore. The one that keeps telling him he's just let the best thing that's ever happened to him walk away without so much as a backwards glance.
