So, is it bad that I had a really good day as a result of James's really bad one, yesterday? See, last weekend James went home to see his parents for his birthday. When he got ready to leave, his car broke down. (this happened last time he went to his parents' house, too.) The weather got nasty and he couldn't work on it til the next day so he called in to work and spent one more day with his folks. They thought it was fixed. He headed home. Car broke down again. So, he called in again. Obviously, not a good week. They couldn't fix it right away this time. So, his dad offered to drive him as far as my place, but not all the way home. (His folks live about 3 hours away, I live about an hour away.) James called me up and asked if I could drive him the rest of the way home. The plan was that we'd drive down and back and not be gone more than a couple of hours. Yeah, about that...
It turned into a big meet the family afternoon. I met his parents and talked to them for a little bit. His mom seemed really nice and she was interested in Aris and what she's into. My family met James. Mom and Dad really liked him, chatted for a bit about books and such. He teased that I steal his clothes. Mom teased that I've been doing that since I was a kid.
Then, Aris, James and I went to his place. He was so great with her! I could not believe how amazingly patient and sweet he was with her. She adores him!
We wound up staying at his place for a couple of hours and had a nice time together. Aris told me as we were leaving that she really wanted to be a part of James's family. It was super sweet.
If James' car hadn't broken down, I would have only gotten an hour max with him before he went home. This way I had 4 hours with him and a chance for the family to see what I see in him. Sadly, though it was all at the expense of the car and hardship on both our parts cause I'm supposed to buy his other car off him.
