The black hoodie laid in a corner of the closet. Kevin didn't even notice it until he decided to do a complete overhaul cleaning of his loft. He had to do something to get his mind off of Scotty. He had moved some shoes that were on the floor of the closet. That was when the hoodie caught his eye. He pulled it out confused, since he rarely wore sweatshirts. He held it open before him, and the words "A. Eagle" in faded white lettering glared back at him. He didn't know how the sweatshirt had gotten on the floor of his closet, but he knew who it belonged to: Scotty. He felt himself breathing harder, not knowing what to do. He sunk down on the bed, still staring at the sweatshirt. Without knowing what made him do so, he brought the sweatshirt up to his face. He slowly breathed in the lingering smell of Scotty. It was amazing there was any scent left. He closed his eyes, the soft material flooding him with memories. He had tried so hard to forget Scotty, and now all he could think of was his smell, his touch, his kiss. Without a second thought, he pulled the sweatshirt on over his head, and pulled the hood up. Then he curled up on the bed, and let himself for the first time since the break up to begin crying. Just then his phone rang. He quickly dried the tears and picked it up. His caller i.d. read "Jason." Only the day before he had been wishing Jason would call, and now that he was. . .it wasn't what he wanted.
"Hi! Jason!" Kevin masked happiness.
"Kevin, I need to talk to you," Jason's voice was grave.
"I have to talk to you first."
"This isn't working. I'm confused on if I should be here. Part of me knows I should, knows this is the type of thing that I love doing. But I'm not happy. Because all I can think of is you. I know you're mad I haven't called. You have every right. But I couldn't, because I didn't know what I wanted. But Kev, I have to say. . .I know this is my calling, and I have to let you go. I'm sorry. What was it you had to say?"
"That actually makes what I have to say easier. I'm wearing another man's sweatshirt right now."
"It's summer. Why?"
"Because I've been lying to myself this whole time. You know how I couldn't tell you I loved you?"
"Yeah. But you finally did. It's okay."
"No. I couldn't say it, because my heart is still with someone else."
"What's his name?" Jason asked after a moment of silence.
"Scotty."
"Scotty's a lucky man."
"Jason, please don't hate me. You're a great guy, honest. I've liked you a lot better than I thought was possible when we first met. But. . ."
"No, I get it Kev. We're on the same page, really. My love for God is greater than my love for you. And your love for Scotty is greater than your love for me. I don't regret what we had, and I'll miss it, but this is for the better."
"So we can still be civil at family get-togethers?"
"Of course. Do me a favor Kevin."
"What's that?"
"Go tell Scotty how you feel. As soon as we get off the phone, I'm praying to God and letting Him know. Scotty deserves the same respect."
"Good luck, Jason."
"Good luck Kevin."

Standing outside the door Kevin suddenly felt ridiculous. Not only was it 90 degrees and he was in a sweatshirt, but he hadn't kept in touch with Scotty. What if he had a boyfriend? What if he didn't reciprocate Kevin's love? No, he had to do this. Besides, he had to return Scotty's sweatshirt to him. He gently knocked at the door.
Kevin couldn't stop from staring when Scotty opened the door. He looked amazing, and Kevin suddenly felt intimidated. He could tell that Scotty was in disbelief.
"I. . .uh. . .I shouldn't have come. I'm an idiot. But I wanted to give you your sweatshirt back."
"Kevin. . ." the name sounded awkward, but it also made Kevin feel weak in the knees.
"Jason and I broke up."
"Would you like to come in?" Scotty suddenly asked.
Kevin nodded.
"Would you like some water?"
Kevin suddenly realized how hot he was. He nodded, his throat too dry to talk. He pulled off the sweatshirt, but left it crumpled in his lap, his fingers scrunching the material.
"Okay, so I'm guessing I must have left the hoodie at your place a while ago. But, why did you put it on?" Scotty asked, handing Kevin a glass of ice water.
Kevin took a sip before responding. "I've missed you. I tried not to since you were over me, but--"
"Kev," Scotty interrupted. "You need to understand something. As mad as I can get at you, there's no getting over you. You've haunted my days and nights since we broke up."
"Are you seeing anyone?"
"No."
Kevin was feeling suddenly very frustrated, and he could feel the tears coming. He felt a knot forming in his chest.
"Kevin? Come here honey," Scotty crooned, pulling Kevin close.
"Do you have to let go?" Kevin whispered, not sure if he wanted Scotty to hear the words.
"No. No, not if you don't want me to."
Kevin looked up, catching Scotty's eye.
"Would I have put on your sweatshirt if I wanted you to?"
"How I've missed those blue eyes," Scotty said, emotion welling up inside of him.
"I know why you love this part so much."
"What is it, Kev?" Scotty asked when he noticed a weird flicker in Kevin's eyes.
"I love you," he said, not as romantic as Scotty may have liked, but with a sudden realization that took both by surprised, and therefore was more romantic than anything Scotty could have imagined.
"I love you too."
"So can we give this another chance?"
"Of course. But we need to change something."
"Anything. Anything as long as it means being with you."
"You have to respect me."
"I do. I promise. But I will try and show that more, instead of coming off as insensitive."
"We need to take things slowly."
"You lead the way."
Scotty leaned down and gently kissed Kevin's lips three times.
"So am I a better kisser than Jason?"
"You're a better man than Jason."
"Kevin! He's your ex. . .and a minister!"
"That doesn't make him a saint. Be honest, if you were in Malaysia, and I was calling you twice a day, how long would it take you to call me back?"
"I wouldn't have missed the first call."
"You smell good. Do you know that?"
Scotty laughed.
"I'm serious. That sweatshirt still smelled like you. I think that that was what sent me over the edge."
Scotty stroked the side of Kevin's face.
"Even amongst all of your crazy antics, and the things that you say sometimes. . .you are the sweetest guy."
"You can be such a thirteen year old girl sometimes, you know that?"
"Yeah, that's what happens when you're not the closet. You can picture your life with another man."
"I was not in the closet," Kevin said defiantly.
"Doesn't matter, because you're not anymore. And you're back with me."
"You're such the romantic Scotty. How can you stand me? I'm so dull."
"You? Dull? Kevin, you're a Walker. Dull is not in your dictionary. And you're romantic in your own way, and you don't even mean to be, which is why it means so much to me. Kevin, you're the reason I'm where I am in my life right now. I wouldn't be me if it wasn't for you. You are amazing and one of these days I hope you'll realize that."
All Kevin could do was smile in response, because he was still in awe that Scotty was giving him another chance. That was when Scotty's phone rang.
"Hey Quinn. . .Actually I have company. . .Okay, yes, it's a date. . .Kevin and I are back together. . .Yeah, that Kevin. . .I really like this one," Scotty replied to whatever Quinn had said, smiling at Kevin.
"Yes I'm serious. . .Okay. . .
"He wants to talk to you," Scotty said, handing Kevin the phone.
"Hi?"
"Kevin, we all love Scotty. We don't like seeing him hurt. Please don't hurt him this time around."
"Quinn, I know we don't really get along, and that you think Scotty's too good for me," Kevin ignored Scotty's shocked face, "But I really do like him. I don't know what he's told you about our relationship, but I have worn out the knees of my pants begging his forgiveness. I have never, never meant to hurt him. I know that sounds stupid and cliché, but I can't tell you how honestly I mean it. If I could protect him from myself, I would. But I can't. Because staying away isn't an option for either of us. I'm going to completely embarrass myself, and I'm not even drunk, but. . .about a half of an hour ago, I was lying on my bed, wearing Scotty's sweatshirt, despite the weather, crying, because all I could think of was him and every. . .I don't know if this will make sense, but every sense of his being. What he tastes like, what he feels like, what he sounds like, what he looks like, what he smells like. I just ended a serious relationship, and I realized the only person I could think of was Scotty. I have never intentionally hurt Scotty, I wish you'd believe that."
"Never? Not even on that one Valentine's Day?"
"When? Oh. That. No. I didn't mean to use him. I was depressed, sure, but. . .it was him. I can never seem to resist him."
Scotty stole the phone away from Kevin.
"Quinn, you know I don't like discussing my sex life. So will you please believe I know what I'm doing, and that I'll be okay with Kevin?
"Thank you. Bye Quinn."
"Did I tell too much?" Kevin's face scrunched in uncertainty.
"Kevin. . ." Scotty shook his head in disbelief. "You are the sweetest, most romantic man that there is. I can't believe I let you go. I'm so glad we got another chance. I don't need you to protect me from you. All I need from you is for you to be yourself, which is the greatest boyfriend a guy can have."
Kevin squeezed Scotty's hands.
"Now, I know it's probably you're favorite. . .but any chance that I can have my sweatshirt back?"
"Now that I have you back, I no longer need it."
"Yeah, you can have the real thing."
"I should probably call my family."
"Be excited. We're back together." Scotty's eyes sparkled, and Kevin couldn't help but smile.
Scotty kissed Kevin before saying, "Call! Show me off!"
"Hey Kitty, it's Kevin."
"Is everything okay? You sound out of breath."
"We're back together!"
"Who?"
"Scotty and me!"
"Oh my gosh! When? How?"
"Just now."
"Wait, are you with him?"
"Yes."
"Kevin you fool! I'll spread the word. You get back to your boyfriend."
Kevin hung up his phone.
"Well?"
"I think she's happy for us. So happy in fact, I got kicked off phone duty."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, because when I'm on the phone I can't do this." Kevin cupped Scotty's face in his hand and gently kissed him.
