I'm Sorry!

Hi everyone,
OK, as an Australian citizen, I just want to say one thing: I'm sorry! I'm sorry for our abysmal treatment of our Aboriginal people, I'm very sorry we got involved in the bloody Iraq conflict and, most of all, I'm sorry that we are only one of only TWO countries in the developed world who are refusing the ratify the Kyoto protocol.
I mean come on: John Howard, in case it has escaped your attention, we are living in one of the hottest and driest countries in the world! Sydney's dams are at below half capacity and there's no chance of the water being replenished until we get a bloody good drenching, which just isn't on the cards in the foreseeable future. We had good rainfall last week but it only takes a few days of 35degC+ temps for it all to vanish again - and according to the CSIRO and Bureau of Meterology we've had more days of temps that high than ever before in recorded history. Sydney used to have a temperate climate - now, within my own lifetime, it's turning tropical. While other countries are enduring more rain and colder temperatures than ever before, we in Australia have heatwaves, and the longest, most devastating drought we've had in years. Why?? Well I blame the Greenhouse Effect. If *any* country should be in favour of combatting this environmental disaster it should be us, with our strong agricultural industry in danger of going down the toilet due to rising temperatures and lack of rain. And any idiot could see that, with our increasingly abundant sunlight, we are in a perfect position to lead the world in solar power. I mean, we already have the fricking hole in the ozone layer right over our heads, to the point that if you haven't had an encounter with skin cancer by the time you hit 30 then you can't really call yourself a real Aussie. And now, once again, Mother Nature is showing Aussies in sharp relief that we're screwing things up and need to do something NOW! Does Mr Howard not realise that yes some jobs will be lost, but the new environmentally friendly measures will CREATE jobs - maybe more jobs than will be lost. The fact is he won't know until he TRIES. His argument is that other countries like Indonesia do not face as harsh penalities as we do - is it me or is that the most childish, immature argument EVER uttered from the leader of a supposedly developed country. "Awww, he gets to do this, why can't I??? You like him better!" (pout)
Honestly, I have never been so embarrassed to be an Aussie as I am at this moment in history!
