but in the meantime i shall do the weekly update thing recapping the highlights of this past weekend!
friday was rather uneventful...i went to work and then drove home to CT where i proceeded to shove a months worth of dirthy clothes into the washer in hopes of having it all done by saturday afternoon. After that, i went off with mom to centerbrook to have dinner with some of her work friends. my mom ended up taking a contracting job down in florida and is leaving in 2 weeks, so this was my last weekend to actually see her before she heads on down. so we go down to centerbrook to do the mother daughter bonding thing, and we're sitting at the bar and i start to notice that most of the people here at this particular bar seem to be very...how should we say, monetarily endowed. one of these people was a very artsy looking type fellow who just kind of stumbled around trying to find a place to sit still for awhile. come to find out, he's this guy from new york city who's big into theatre/acting/directing and was catching a drink before going to see tuesdays with morrie a few towns over. he was chatting with us for a bit and it was alright, a bit sketchy, but alright.....that is until he called my mom and me delicious.....yeah.....*shudder*
in addition to that, i ended up talking to the guy next to me who turns out to be the assistant attorney general to the state of CT. we're doing the small talk thing and he ends up asking me what my husband does for a living...silly, silly man! he seemed a bit embarassed when i told him that i was not married, but i was flattered that someone thought i'd reached that point in my life.
anywho, dinner ends and i head on over to scott's. thus concludes friday night.
saturday comes and i have a whole day to do whatever i please! i had grand plans of finishing up laundry, hanging out with mom, hanging out with karen, getting a costume together for jenn's party...but no no, fate decided otherwise. i get home from scott's, decide to sleep a bit more, and end up sleeping until 5pm. folks that's 17 hours of sleep i got....17 hours!!! i haven't done that in years! needless to say, nothing got done and i ended up not having a costume and having to rush my shower which i was so looking forward to. le sigh.
after a rushed awakening, i jetted off to eastern to see Doc Holliday: Drunk, Mean and Bleeding. Scott wrote it and it was being performed via staged reading so naturally, i wanted to go and see it. It was an interesting experience watching a play and knowing who wrote it , personally. Overall i thought the play was very good, although i am interested in how it would've been had it been an actual production. i felt that the characters could have been developed more, and that it lagged a bit in the beginning because of this. relationships needed to be clearer in the first scene, and the dialogue could have been a bit more natural. it started out very broken, with unnecessary pauses, but soon picked up and seemed more natural. when all is said and done, i thought it was a good performance and i was proud to see scott's work in action, so to speak.
after the play i jetted off to glastonbury to attend jenn's wonderful halloween party! due to my overabundance of sleep i was lacking in costume, and decided to go as "sober" instead...it was a great time and i was very happy to see a lot of faire folk there! it helps to make the transition between faire and free time easier when we can all still hang out! everyone's costumes were great, and i finally got a card from the mad hatter! kaylee was my wonderful ipod shadow (which, by the way, COOLEST COSTUME EVER!,)i got my ass handed to me in ping pong by sean, karen and i showed what pathetic pool players we are, and i got to watch carl take his first tequila shot. ahh memories! 'twas good times! and, yet again, at the end of hte night, i jetted on back to scott's.
sunday came around and for the first time in i don't know how long scott and i had the whole day ot just hang out! him, his brother shane and i went out to breakfast at pine acres where shane wussed out on the gut buster....i might end up trainig so i can do it! then it was just a leisurely day of hanging out at his parent's place, then checking out sean's apartment, checking out sean's guns and knives, then back to scott's to watch some deadwood. after a few episodes it's safe to say that i'm kind of hooked adn want to watch the rest of it, like now! however, i have to wait....maybe i can gank a few episodes from scott! after awhile i ended up deciding not to drive back to boston that night and scott was so kind to let me stay another night. his friends nicole and steve came over and we all played heroscape. it was my first time, and i have to say i do'nt think i did too badly. of course, scott was pretty much helping me with every move, but huzzah! our team won!
and thus ends my weekend. it feels like it was so long...i wish every weekend felt like that. next weekend brings seminar goodness from detroit....this should prove to be interesting! stay tuned for more episodes from the life of taryn!
