Maguire's follow-up novel to his highly successful Wicked has a lot to live up to, and for me it doesn't disappoint. The book follows Liir, the young boy who is rumoured to be Elphaba's son, as he tries to figure out who he is, and in the process helps others. Full of Maguire's dark humour it's perfect if you want to escape from this world but are in a too-cynical mood for a traditional fairy tale...
