New Book Challenge 2008 - 24/52 - The Screwtape Letters

Mar 19, 2008 08:54

Another one read. The list is here.

I picked up this book, which is an Anniversary Edition and also includes Screwtape Proposes a Toast, in a local Charity shop and I'm glad I did. The letters from the Tempter Screwtape to his unfortunate nephew, Wormwood offer an interesting insight into Lewis' views on how to avoid taking certain virtues to extremes in Christianity, and what constitutes true peace. The Toast, written much later, is a wonderful comment on how the ways of sin have changed through the ages.

Not sure what'll be next - am re-reading The Time Travellers' Wife for catervalibre at the moment, so will have to see.
