chickies
This week our baby chickens arrived. I would love to post pictures but my camera is broken. I would really love to post the picture of claudia sitting on top of the brooder trying to figure out how to get in to the 4 day old chicks.
We chose Astrolorps because they are a very friendly chicken that is cold hearty and are considered excellent layers.
I picked up one of the chickies yesterday and it curled up in my hands and went to sleep. It was incredibly sweet. The cutest thing of all was that it started pecking at my fingers in its sleep. I guess it was dreaming of eating, like all babies do.
We are about six months away from our own fresh eggs. Its all very exciting!
Most of my cooking experiments have been put on hold. Our vacation and chicken coop building turned us upside down on money for a few weeks, but when I get caught up, I will get back to it. That might not stop me from attempting to make some spruce tip jelly this week though.
