A surprise holiday
On Wednesday D and I are off to New York!
VERY last minute and completely not planned.
D has a business meeting about 25 mins drive north of Manhattan on Thursday so his plan was to fly out on Wed, and back on Friday. However, when he checked flight details it was £1000 cheaper if he waited till Sunday to fly back! So work said that they would pay for a hotel for him to stay till Sun (providing it was cheaper than the £1000 he would be saving on the airfare) and that it would be okay with them if I was there as well!!! So we are getting a 4 night break in NY for the cost of my return flight. Unfortunately there was no way we could afford to take the kids and to be honest they would probably have more fun with their grandparents. I do want to take them to NY at some stage but I had planned that it would be when they were quite a bit older.
Originally I was going to fly out on Thur and meet D after his meeting, but we found that if I went with him on Wed then it would be £150 cheaper. Unfortunately he is flying business class and I'm stuck back in economy :(
So, we are staying at the Millenium Broadway Hotel on W 44th Street. Definitely not the sort of place we would be staying at if WE were paying!!!! And we have tickets to see Shrek the Musical (courtesy of some early Christmas money spending).
I'll have to amuse myself on Thursday but I'm sure I can find SOMETHING to do in Manhattan!
