The sunlight was streaming through the window above our bed. The whole room was lit up and everything just seemed so fresh and beautiful like it only can first thing in the morning.
I opened my sleepy eyes as I felt Tara's soft fingers running themselves through my red hair. I turned over on my pillow and looked at her. She was snuggled down next me under the blanket, her eyes watching me with love.
"Good morning sunshine." She said to me as I smiled and leaned forward to kiss her... only the next moment she wasn't there. My sleep heavy lids flitted open and my hand, resting on Tara's arm a moment ago, now lay on top of her empty pillow. I rolled over onto my back. "Just another dream." I said to myself as I sat up on my bed. I had dozed off in the late afternoon. The book I had been reading to keep occupied had fallen to the floor.
"Dang." I said as I stood up and stretched, "I don't know how Giles went a whole year being unemployed. This being home in the middle of the day stuff is a lot more boring than I thought." I laughed to myself as I began to undress to take a shower.
Over the last few weeks, if I had a dream about Tara, I would wake up sullen and upset that it was only a dream. Today was different though. Today I was going to meet with Tara after she got off work. I would actually get to see her and talk with her, tell her how much progress I had made. Explain to her that she could come back. I was a completly different Willow. These last few months without magick were just what I had needed to realize how dependant I had become on it. Still, I wish I hadn't had to go through it without Tara. It seems like we've lost so much time together.
"Well" I said to myself as I stepped out of the shower, "Today you start making up for lost time."
I got dressed and dried my hair, and after the usual getting ready motions that had to be gone through, I was on my way to the Starbucks down the street. Early evening was my favorite time to come in here. It was when it was the quietest. You didn't have the corporate suits pushing past you to get their morning jolt, or the trendy lunch girls who sat at the booths and gossiped loudly over cappachinos, and it was still to early for the night owls and college students who needed a late night boost to keep themselves awake for some reason or another.
I sat on a comfy couch near the window and ordered a Mocha. I fiddled with my shirt sleeves and drank my coffee while I waited for Tara to arrive.
