Once again, Fandoms Collide

Mar 24, 2008 14:44

SO I turned on the TV while I was making my husbands lunch and flipped though to the Lifetime channel. And who do I see but Paul Michael Glasser (best known as Starsky) playing a detective (poor guy couldn't get out of the roll). Also (a much younger) David Hewlett (who plays Rodney McKay on StarGate: Atlantis) and the guy from N.C.I.S. all in the ( Read more... )

*giggles* I posted a...okay, it wasn't a review. It wasn't even a summary. It was a random bunch of shit, but I did post about that movie a couple of months ago. I blame Kimberly. As usual. :-)

Out of curiosity...were you as amused as I was when PMG had his feet up on the desk, wise-assing off to the Fibbie cop?

Yes!! It was such a 'Starsky' thing to do. I wonder if that was intentional on his part, or if it's just the stereotypical 'local detective's always distrust/hate/mouth off to the Feds' reaction.

I'll have to look for that post...

I don't know that it was intentionally a Starsky thing to do, but it was more than just an anti-Fed thing. The same way Jim's "Let's all torture the substitute" in Finkleman's Folly was more than just his dislike of button-down types. It was--in all three cases (Starsky, the ANLHG cop, and Jim), IMO--a matter of a sort of rebellious personality, one that I happen to share (which is why I love writing Starsky). :-)

And, the post I mentioned is here: http://mashfanficchick.livejournal.com/50786.html. :-)

I found the post and commented on it. I can see what you are saying wrt the rebellious personality. It's one more layer for me to explore in my fic... I'm really nervous about getting S&H right in it. I guess we'll see.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

*Loves your Icon* It's very comforting. Yet another Fandom 'in-ref'.

That scene from Love and Guns (one more layer of confusion: that was also the name of a 3 epi arch of FarScape!!!) always makes me sad, cause I just want Jim to sit with Blair and make with the comfort Sex comfort him. But alas, he walks away to be with the Bitchy FBI chick (I was so pissed at her in that episode when she gave the snitch more money) *has Much HATE! for that character*

Well, I guess I know what fic I'll be putting up first on my Sentinel page: I wrote a sort of...it's half missing scene/half more-in-depth canon-scene (gen, though, even though I'm normally a slasher in TS), about Jim going in and talking to him and everything. Look for it in, say, an hour or so? I'm still not too good with the page workings. :-)

And yeah, my friend linnyb made that icon for me a couple of years ago, when I was going through a really hard time. It's like a private hug every time I look at it. (And it also inspired the above, more tongue-in-cheek icon.)

I'll definitely look for that. Hutch's face in that icon is Priceless, all pouty, but in a mocking way *loves it*

Just for you, because you made my day this morning when you compared me to Lamardeuse (seriously, the idea of being in a league with her was just so awesome...I was flying sky-high all day): http://www.geocities.com/mashfanficchick/sentinel_genfic.html. I promise I'll put more stuff up soon, but for now, this is the one I was telling you about. It's not the super "wrap him up in a blanket" comfort we would've loved (that was S&H, not TS!), but it does give a bunch of projected comfort and yummy Jim-angst to an otherwise only half-wonderful scene. :-)

You are so totally in her league. So you deserve the praise. I checked out the fic and liked it (can't say I loved it cause you mentioned the bitchy FBI chick...). And why can't TS have the same 'wrapped up in a blanket' kind of comfort as S&H? The projected comfort was lovely, and the listening-but-not-listening was very Jim. Wonderful job overall.

Thank you SO much for the huge compliment; I really, really am in heaven. And yeah, I wasn't too crazy about Drennan either, but I really wanted to work out the fic without changing any of the canon, so...yeah. She had to stay. (The leather jacket wasn't too bad though; if I was narrower, I'd totally wear it ( ... )

And to be fair, for all that Starsky & Hutch hugged and held and damned near kissed, there was a lot of stuff in that show that would never fly now (the way they touched and spoke to women, for example).

Yeah I get that. They were very touchy-feely. But then like you said back at the time when the show aired it was ok for guys to be close like that.

Not to mention that Jim's just not the type to do the whole "pour his heart out" thing; he's a lot more likely to go beat the shit out of something and then quietly confess when Blair asks WHY the loft now has a hole in the wall where the wall wasn't meant to have a hole. ;-)

Hee hee, I want to see this fic! Cause that so totally is Jim. He was a Very reserved character.
