Episode Thoughts (SPN) 4.19 - Jump the Shark

EEEEEEEEEE!!!! I was all worried about how this one would turn out. I'm glad to report my worry was for nothing. This was an AWESOME episode.

The chick at the beginning bore a striking resemblance to Mary Winchester... Obviously John didn't stray far from his 'type' Makes me sad that that really means Ellen was never a contender. That would have been some HOT!DIRTY!HATE!SEX... Where was I...

Oh yes this episode...

I LoL'ed @ the Purple toothbrush. Purple? Really, Sammy? Also, EEEWWWWWW @ spit.

What did they say Adam's B-Day was. June 20th of '91 or '92? Cause the '90 reference is throwing me off. It sounded like '92 the first time, but then I thought Sam said John was there initially in Jan of '90. Even so, Jan. of '91 to June of same year that's a pretty premi baby. Yes?

Loved Sammy's 'Maybe he slipped one past the goalie...' remark. And Dean's 'Imagining Dad!Sex... *shudders*' Oh boys.

You could tell just from Dean's expression that this whole 'Meeting Adam' thing was killing him.

YAY for the return of Rock, Paper, Scissors. And of course Dean threw Scissors when he should have thrown Paper. 'Cause Dean always lets Sammy win at that game (there's fic to prove it... by the author of the 'Raising a Big Brother' 'verse? Maybe...)

I Loved that Dean was fighting for keeping Adam in the dark about 'hunting'.

HOOLIGANS!!!!! Yay.

Dean folding the picture when Lisa admitted to being Joe's wife was uber-sweet. Love him for that.

Dean admitting that Kate(?) was John's 'girl' was just bittersweet.

Sam teaching Adam how to shoot like Dean probably taught Sam was awesome. The advice about using the recoil to time the other shots was probably verbatim from Young!Dean who learned it that way from John. It really is all about family.

I'm not sure how I feel about Dean and Sammy's switched positions on Hunting vs. Normal Life. But I can kind of see Dean wanting to protect innocents from 'the life' (especially post-Hell).

It was way too dark in the mausoleum set. But when Dean looked up and saw the Freakin' Fat-Baby!Angel on the ceiling I was totally sure he was going to call for Castiel to help him. I kind of want that to be what happened. And for Castiel to snark something along the lines of 'Underground, alive: again. We have to stop meeting this way, Dean.' Becky, you totally want to write this, Y/N?

I'm not sure how I'm feeling about John after this episode. 'Cause this means he Willingly left the boys (at rather young ages 14 and 10) alone to be with his 'other family'... IDK. I kind of want to be pissed at him, but on the other hand like Sam said: he wasn't a monk. I do wonder how some of the more prolific 'pro-John' writers are going to deal with this (dodger_winslow especially comes to mind, 'cause I love her 'cannon!John' and don't want this to taint him...

So Adam, their half-brother, was dead the whole time and that was a ghoul walking around pretending to be Adam... That is a twist I totally didn't see coming. But at least they made it clear that the 'real' Adam was indeed their flesh and blood relative. It wasn't hemmed and hawed over.

Dean: That's what Family's for, right? *placing cloth napkins over Sam's slit wrists*

Me: YES!! THIS!!! EXACTLY.

One more needless innocent death on Dean and Sam's shoulders. One more funeral pyre to watch burn out. One more time they let silence speak for them... Oh, boys.

thank god it's thursday, dean winchester is awesome!!!, spn s4, oh boys, fandom: supernatural, episode thoughts
