Blissful Weekend Away

First of all I wanted to say thank you for all your friendship and support. Please be assured that I have had down times like last week most of my life, it comes and goes,(I think it's hormonal) but I am well versed in procrastination and know that no matter how terrible I feel in that moment (and I do feel absolutely shattered and distraught) I trust that it will be better in the morning and it always is. If it's not, then it will be time to seek help, not do anything stupid!!

So, thank you for being amazing friends.

This weekend, Mackenzie Jason and I took off with our friends codebluechick and trenshadow on an overnight camping trip. We were headed towards Coopers Creek near Walhalla in the Gippsland region and after a few false starts with our GPS trying to direct us down a road with a broken bridge, we found our planned camp site. Am I ever glad that we did - it was a slice of paradise. In all the years I have been camping, I don't think I have found a better spot.

There were enough trees to give lots of shade when needed, but a good enough clearing so that you didn't have to pitch your tent dorectly beneath them. The sites were big enough that you didn't feel cramped or crowded, the toilets were central to all locations. The police did a drive through at one point, so we felt very safe and there were a couple of kids around for Macknezie to play with (although the family she hung out with most of the time was pretty feral...)

Best of all, it was a minute's walk from the Thompson River, which was the cleanest and nicest rivver I have ever swum in. The water was like nothing else I've tasted and you could see the bottom like it was through clean glass. IT had a strong-ish current that was fast enough to be fun, without being dangerous or overwhelming and a nice shallow bit so that Mackenzie could play without being held constantly. It was spectacular.

It was marvellous to be away from everything and to relax and talk with friends for a very enjoyable weekend. I can see we will go back again soon :)
