yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present, because immortal...
Well, let me just say, I grabbed my book and ran to the cash register but on the way there I looked at the last chapter, Yes I LOOKED, and I nearly fainted.

Saying Goodbye
by Anthony West
So soft
the brief touch of your lips
on my cheek.
Was I almost intruding?
"Look after yourself "
should have been
"I love you!"
Then the Jumbo flew over
my head
and I shouted my love
above the roar
and thundering thrust
. . . as if you'd hear.
Through the clouds in my eyes
I watched you fly away
and wished I'd been born with wings.
Ok, first things first, the party. So I found my t-shirt after all. And let me say, people were coming into Borders dressed as ALL KINDS of things. All things Hogwarts that is. They were throwing together loads of different outfits, weird ties, weird shoes, weird hair, but there were some that looked so outstanding I had to take a picture. Those will come soon. But all in all it was a BLAST.
I had gone into Borders about 3 in the evening and got my wrist ban, assuring my spot in line. I was Silver B. We left the house around 9, after I frantically did a last moments search for my Platform 9 and three quarters shirt. There's clothes all over my floor, literally, because I dumped out 6 hefty bags full, and finally found the shirt. But I'm glad I did {even though it was now hella small and smelled kinda like funky damp basement :/ }. We left the house and we went into Walmart real fast as our first stop, I needed cat litter. There was a little table set up with cookies and cake and they were handing out wrist bans too, really REALLY cool wrist bans may I add. We each got one. I wanted one anyway plus I knew there was a real good chance I'd be coming back even though my book was reserved at Borders.
Got to Borders, Brandon near Tampa, and it was PACKED. It was crazy. But it was great. We worked our way in and enjoyed walking around laughing and admiring peoples costumes and just the general feel good excitement that was in the air. I was so close to crying a few times, but never did! (I didn't even cry speed reading the book last night. Not that I remember anyway. It was 4 something in the AM once I finally attempted to sleep) (a few parts DID shock me though, and a couple parts had me so darn giddy, I was ready to explode. But more on that later}
When it was FINALLY time for the release of our book, there was no countdown or anything :/ which I was sorta really looking forward to. But instead they started announcing how everyone was going to line up and we all got so excited, we barely knew which way to turn. But, even though I was in the 2nd group to be called, they were going soooo slow, so we LEFT and went back to Walmarts!!! It was about 12:10 AM by that time. We went to a nearer Walmart but I knew my wrist ban would be good there too and of course it was (I had red btw! go go Gryffindor,!) Ran back to layaway where they were handing them out, saw a huge line {lots of costumes there too ;) } and noticed a lot of people had done what we did and came over from Borders to buy their book at Walmart! {the price was better AND the line was organized much better} We didn't have to stay in line for long though, and it was a biggie, but alas we turned around and saw a dude with a cart LOADED with the book! He sorta nodded and winked and about 10 of us went flying at him quietly. But oh my, I seriously can not explain the feeling I had, not only seeing the books, but once I had my hands on one. It was a true feeling of, something or other. And of course I took off running, like just about everyone else, to the check out lines. 99 PERCENT of people in the check out lines were READING THE LAST CHAPTER. It was hilarious. I had given in and looked at so many spoilers this past week (not yesterday though. I stayed high and hell water away from them yesterday) that I knew exactly what I needed to see in that last chapter in order to put myself at ease. So I LOOKED. While standing in line, yes. And I saw EXACTLY what I needed to see. ;) ... Exactly what most of us needed to see.
Now, onto the story-
I read the first three or four chapters, and then sped read, literally, the rest. And by sped read, I mean I glanced through each damn page, gliding over each paragraph, checking out every few words in each paragraph, and ultimately "finished" the book in about 4 hours. By then my brain was just about mush. I was frustrated and irritated and annoyed as HELL. There was so much fighting going on, and so much pollyjuice being drank, and not enough parties going on, and oh, PLENTY OF CUSS WORDS/NO SEX. None. Zilch. Not even the tiniest hint. Unless you read THAT MUCH between the lines. But anyway it was exciting and nerve wrecking and the closer I got to the end the more nervous and excited and FRUSTRATED I got, and then finally, FINALLY, there it was. The moment I'd been waiting for through 7 books and 5 years to finally witness. And ah, how fun it was. {{Yes I'm talking about Ron and Hermione's first kiss. Don't worry, it takes a while, but it's there. Don't have a mini stroke looking for it like I did}} It was NOT sweet and passionate, by any means, but it's HOT and quite damn passionate. And it's going to make one hell of an amazing kiss on screen if done right. Oh, Harry and Ginny DO get in a bit of sweet passionate snogging, so don't fret. But you'll see that way before Ron and Hermione's moment.
There was a lot of moments between Ron and Hermione. They obviously love each other from the first page. But I noticed it's never said. NONE of them as a matter of fact say I love you to anyone else. But it's the way they go about their daily lives that speak it for all them I guess. Kinda like how people really are. :/ But anyway, oh did Ron PISS ME THE HELL OFF. Hermione actually DID NOT in this book. She's pissed me off in the past, but never quite as much as Ron did in this book and I know I won't be the only one who felt that way. He makes up for it though. Trust me. From beginning to end, especially the beginning, he proves himself so much more than he ever did in the previous stories. He proves what type of person he really is, and it's not the Ron we're all used to. He's funny, sure, but he has so much more, well, I'll let you find out for yourself, but let me at least say, stamina, yeah, I think that word will do. Aside from his one moment of complete ignorance, but he brings himself out of that one. He really shines as Harry's best friend. So that left me satisfied.
I'm not going to comment on the deaths, or on Voldy and Dumby or anyone else. You'll all know all the details to all of that on your own, and then feel FREE to come back and discuss it! :) Because I'm just dying to!!!!
I will say, some of the deaths left me in shock. One, at least, I was prepared for. The others left me with my hand over my mouth for a few moments. But that is, what this book is supposed to do.
There is constant non stop fighting in this story. But that's good because it is, after all, war.
I think pretty much everything has come full circle. I did notice some things I was still questioning by the end of the book, but re-reading it a couple times, slower, will answer everything, I'm sure. There were some open ending conclusions but others that we've been waiting for has definite closure.
I think I'm going to stop here. Because there isn't much more I can say until someone wants to start a discussion! But all in all, JKR should be very proud. She did it. She's an amazing writer and she obviously did the best she could and was completely happy with the end results.
Deathly Hallows is NOT my favorite book. Not yet anyway. My favorite is still Half Blood Prince, followed by Goblet of fire. But Deathly Hallows is amazing. It still hasn't completely hit me it's OVER. It's finished. It's a done deal.
I'd like to say there was "too much" fighting going on for my taste. But that was, after all, the whole point of the book. It's what it was meant for. And needless to say, I really honestly TRULY do not think many, or dare I say, if any, Harry Potter fans will "loathe" the book.
Enjoy reading it and thanks for reading this!!!! :)
Hope you all had fun last night, those of you that ventured out to the midnight release parties!!!!! Let me know if you share your experience, I'll come read!
ps, I posted a little fan fic recently based on what my version of the wedding chapter was going to be like, and I have to say that a couple parts of the actual chapter cracked me up because I had the exact same thoughts in my fanfic!!!!! But I also noticed some other parts that mirrored other recent fanfics I looked at! So that part was also highly amusing ;) I guess we all pretty much knew what Jo was thinking! Or close enough anyway!
pps, It was fun 'cause we took cupcakes with us yesterday and was going out to the car to eat them. I got a little sick 'cause I was anxious, but it was cool. My mom bought them. She was like "these are our celebration cupcakes".
But anyway, I have one more thing to say about the awesome kiss, well, one more thing for now anyway ;D It wasn't ANYTHING the way I expected it to be. NOTHING. I was happy with it, more than words can express happy with it, but never imagined it going down the way it did. I know we've all had our own thoughts on it, and, yeah, let me know what you thought too!
