5km: 22:06
Half: 1:41:15

McMillan running calculator suggests from the half that I could do a 45min 10km. But I haven't actually done that!

Challenge Henley was hard as. 12:42 in the end, not quite the result I was hoping for, but it was a tough day, and there are some lessons to be learned

Three years ago I hadn't done 25m in a pool for not much less than 20 years. I gave myself a year to get to 1500m, and from there getting to 4km was easy. I had a lot of video coaching though to sort my technique out. I'm still not fast. I can just swim for a really long time.

Don't worry about the change from bike to run - if you try and do it the professional way you will lose more time than you save to start off with. Just do it normally, it's very easy. Swim to bike without falling over is the trickier one as going from horizontal to vertical causes some very odd changes in blood distribution!

I'll check out Noosa for next year, otherwise I'll stick mainly to small local triathlons and get to know the local clubs.

I have decided I'd love to get down to 45 for the 10k, which should be achievable on a flat course. I'll see how I go in the B2B next year, which has a couple of hills. The first kilometre is up a gentle slope (halfway across the bridge, then it's the same slope down again), and then at about 7.5km there's a b*stard of a hill (well, I think it's a b*stard but mainly because I was giving it all I had anyway and who needs a hill at that point in the race???!!?)

Now the weather is hot again (we had a fortnight of spring which was DIVINE, and welcome to summer - 30-odd degree days already!) I should stop by the pool on my way home and see if I don't drown. As for this technique you speak of... I'm similar with running - can't go very fast, but can go forever!

I'm worried about the whole shaky bike legs thing, and falling flat on my face before I even get started running. It's funny in my head, but probably wouldn't be in reality.

And yes, you've got to get into the races early around here, being such a sunny place to live, there are lots of health freaks around and places fill up quickly.

Oh, and I've just read your Challenge Henley write up - I am definitely in awe of you! I can't even begin to imagine being so active for almost 13 hours! My longest so far was 3 hours...

Well done. :o)
