Yesterday equals journey to Huntsville. What for? you may ask. Well, I would like to tell you that I went there for genius. And that is what I received. Genius in the form of Wilco. After an hour-long drive, Taco Bell for sustenance, and cigarette seat bribery, Lindsey, Melissa, and I plodded through a so-so opening act [the Altered Statesmen] before one of the best sets I have ever seen. Not only is their music good, but they put it together so well. They started out with mellow songs, sampling from all of there albums and slowly building up to their more raucous songs, the ones involving screaming about Rock 'n' Roll. And then, after an hour and a half. We thought it was over. And then the encore. Where they played four songs. And then they left. And then they returned for a SECOND ENCORE: three more songs. And Lindsey, Melissa, and I danced our asses off, and random man lit up a joint behind us, in the Von Braun Concert Hall, which, for St. Louisans means smoking in Powell Hall. But it was amazing. The plaid shirt count was 105. Orgasmic? Yes. But when is a 7-encore amazing show not?
