http://www.inquiry.net/ideals/faiths/index.htm This is a link to a site that is focused on the implications of religion in the BSA (Boy Scouts of America). Most of you know I was a Scout for a very long time and it was always something I struggled with...the religious aspect of an organization that was otherwise an excuse for me to go camping, play with knives, and set shit on fire (decidedly hedonistic activities).
I haven't gone meticulously over every one of these articles but I can't say how satisfying it is to me that someone has taken this much time to clarify an issue that's never discussed in such a (generally) conservative organization as the Scouts. I recognize the link has a Bush quote on the front page but just disregard that one, besides the guy edited it enough to make it almost sound like a humane statement coming from that man's lips. Surprisingly enough, besides being a member of the military while he lived, it seems the founder of the BSA was some kind of crazy smart student of comparative religious studies.
This is one of those things that makes me really happy but that's probably because I'm too tired to know any better...I'll wake up in the morning and come back to this site and find some terrifying Zionist rhetoric embedded in it and the whole bleeding thing will be shot. I guess I take it all with a couple grains of salt just because I placed some stock in the organization once.
Much love, kids see you tomorrow (prolly)
