Mindless Babble ... and a drabble

Recovering from a cold that knocked me on my ass, literally. Consulting with a co-worker convinced me that it settled into my inner ear, which explains all the dizzy spells the past two days. Luckily there was always a wall to grab onto before I fell down.

Just back from convocation, classes start tomorrow. Is there any other school out there as pretentious as this one? But it is nice to have the students back. It's so dark and lonely during the summer. And unlike other faculty members, we don't get summer breaks. We get the privilege of working 12 months a year. Aren't we special?

And Eldest comes out today. I'm very excited about that and heading out to my local Borders as soon as I get off work.

And now for the drabble, inspired by the last scene in the movie "What About Bob?"
It was lovely here. He finally understood what Dumbledore had been on about all those years about relaxing and meditating and enjoying simply being. He didn’t know about the meditating or the “being”, whatever that was, but the relaxation was wonderful. He couldn’t remember the last time he had just relaxed and enjoyed the silence of his own mind. Occasionally an annoying healer would come in and poke and prod and he wanted to glare, but the peace was too wonderful to give up so he just sat there and let them poke and prod to their hearts delight. But when Draco showed up with That Person for one of his visits, he sat up and took notice, metaphorically speaking. He didn’t actually sit up and no one knew he was paying attention, but he heard every word and the more he heard the more disturbed he became. So he wiggled his brow. And he tried to snarl, though his upper lip only curved a bit. But when they began to lean into each other, Snape forced himself to his feet and shouted, “NO!” There was only so much a man could take. They all made a fuss about his “recovery,” Draco and the pokers and prodders. That Person leaned against the wall and glared. Snape glared back. It was his own fault that Snape was back in action. All Potter had to do was stay away from him and Snape would have continued in his happy, silent existence. And as soon as he got Draco alone, he’d talk some sense into the boy. Maybe then Potter would curse him for a few hours and he could go back to his silence.
